Resizing pictures can be done simply with most graphics programs.

If you have a version of Windows as your operating system, you may have Microsoft Photo Editor installed. Go to the Start Menu, choose 'Programs' and then 'Microsoft Office Tools', if you have Photo Editor it will be listed there.

Once you've started Photo Editor, open the image you want to resize, then on the program's Menu Bar (at the top), select 'Image' and then 'Resize'. You can then resize the image through the dialog box that pops-up (you may prefer to select 'Pixels' from the drop down menu, it's easier to work in pixels).

Remember your avatar for BBFans has to be 80 pixels wide (or less) by 80 pixels high (or less), and it's total file size must be 6KB or less (it probably will be comfortably well below that, unless it's an animated GIF).

When you are resizing the image, look at the width and height values (remember to select pixels as the 'Units'). Whichever value is bigger, resize that value to 80 pixels; the other dimension will automatically be resized and be less than 80 pixels.

Save your resized image, preferably using a new file name; you may want to retain or make other changes to the original image (i.e. you don't want to overwrite the original image with your new smaller version).
