What are neaps? And what's in haggis? and I've heard of something scottish called 'stovies' or something but haven't a clue what they are either. ${

Neaps are turnips... or swedes to you.... you don't want to know what's in haggis (and I don't need reminding)... stovies is like stew mixed with tatties.

Oh! I didn't think swede and turnips were the same thing though...I thought they looked the same but a swede is more orangy and a turnip is white-ish????
Well you learn something new everyday! :lecturer: :D

They are different, I try and explain this to Paul, swede is mushy when you cook it, turnip looks, and tastes different, perhaps they come from the same family, but they are not the same thing!!! You are right with the colour too!

When I went to America once to stay with my cousin, she had to go away for a few days, so I stayed with this Romanian girl who was same age as me. Her dad gave me what I thought was a chicken nugget and said 'taste this'....so I did and it was yuk, but being polite (or stupid) I said ''ooh that's nice''...the girl winced and said ''it's sheep's brains'' :eek: :puke:
I think she knew I was just being polite and stopped her dad from loading my plate with them.
Since that day, I've learned to be polite but say 'no thank you' ::lol::
