Three weird threads - seemingly spam - have appeared in General Chat today. Does somebody delete these threads, or are they left to find their own way down the page?

We do seem to be getting an unusually high amount of spam atm.

We are trying to remove it as soon as possible but I am a bit concerned that the last lot were links to porn site. Have banned the user but if anyone see any of this please pm a mod so we can act as quickly as poss.

Thanks you ()^

Is there any way for new users to automatically have their first posts moderated and there after once cleared they go through normally ?
Just thinking that this might be a way of stopping the Junk getting posted to the outside world ?

in the short term, is it possible to put a stop to all new registrations? Maybe we could look at lifting it or moderating new applications? Clearly this is happening overnight and the mods are doing a great job getting rid, but they can't be here 24/7 and it must be making moderating these boards a real pain at the moment.

I think the possible problem with that is at this time of year there may be a few genuine new members wanting to join for CBB. If they aren't able to register they will probably go elsewhere and not come back which would be a great shame. I appreciate the problem however.

When was this forum software last updated as with the latest version it got a feature called Cathca (or something like that) which stops robots from signing up and posting spam.

The forum was updated last night, but it has had captcha for a long time. I have made one modification to the registration code which should help a bit.

The problem with captcha is that someone writes software to read it; or it's economically feasible to have a humans read it; or people signing up for another service are answering the captcha from another site. It's an interesting topic, possible solutions are 3d/audio/question based captcha.
