Just found this.....anyone making donations to the site or anyone using paypal for other reasons may want to have a look at this:

Yes, I have received some of these emails, but they are nothing to do with Paypal themselves. So long as anyone actually visits the paypal.com website direct or click on the donation link on this site, they are okay. This is only referring to emails which have been sent to users, pretending to be from Paypal and asking the user to click on a link or download an attachment in order to update their information and they say that their account will be closed if not done soon - they are very genuine looking, but Paypal specify on their site that they would never ask users to update their information in this manner, nor would they say that their account would expire if not done. Just make sure that you do not open any attachments or click on any links and you should be okay.

These type of emails have also been sent to people, pretending to be from Banks - I know for a fact that some of Barclays and Natwest customers have been targeted. It's a means of fraudsters obtaining the cardholders details.

The best bet, is never ever to send any confidential information in an email or click on a link to do so, but to actually visit the site in question and if unsure, to write to the company concerned to verify the email was from them. Quite often, the from address is faked and the title of a link is faked also to look correct, so never trust something like that in an email, but so long as you go to the actual site yourself, by entering it in the browser yourself, rather than clicking on a link, you will be okay.
