Craig claims he has no feeling in his earlobes, perhaps because his blood supply has been diverted to other areas of his body.
Fascinated by the news about Craig's numb ears, Maxwell asked if he could pinch them really hard.
Craig could hardly keep the excitement out of his voice as he agreed to Maxwell's request.
"There's no sensitivity in them at all," he said as Maxwell delicately took an earlobe between thumb and forefinger.
"Does that hurt?" Maxwell asked, increasing the pressure.
"Ow, ow," Craig squealed, revealing that his earlobes are far from numb.
The strange episode gave Maxwell and Anthony a great idea for a new game, Pinch The Earlobe.
The lads squared up, took hold of each other's earlobes and pinched away, until Anthony submitted, writhing out of Maxwell's grasp.
It was thrilling climax to a tense contest and, with the Olympics coming to London in 2012, the Great British sport of earlobe pinching could become an international craze.
