BIG Brother star Anthony Hutton might be locked inside the famous house, but nobody's missing him too much – because Birkenshaw lookalike Michael Schewtschuk has stepped into his shoes.
The 24-year-old apprentice plumber won a Big Brother competition on Sunday.
Now he is getting a taste of celebrity life – by living as the Geordie dancer for a week.
So far Michael has spent a day with Anthony’s family, danced in front of a thousand people and even met one of Anthony’s best mates – motormouth former housemate Maxwell.
Michael said: “When I’m out in town people stop me and ask if I’m Anthony’s twin. Loads of people have stopped me in the street just to ask if I’m related to him.
“The best incident was in a curry house in Bradford. There were loads of people in there and when I walked in they all started chanting ‘Anthony, Anthony’ at me.
“They knew I wasn’t the real Anthony when I spoke – I look like him but I don’t have his Geordie accent!”
Michael, of Birksland Moor, was one of three Anthony lookalikes on Sunday’s Big Brother’s Little Brother, hosted by Dermot O’Leary. He was voted the best of the three by viewers - and is now living Anthony’s life for a week as a reward.
“It was a live show so it was pretty nerve-wracking,” he said. “Maxwell was on the show too. He seemed like a decent man - a bit of a loudmouth Londoner. I got his vote because he and Anthony were mates in the house.”
And Michael has even shaved his head - just like Anthony.
He said: “Anthony shaved his head in the house, so they shaved mine on the show. The other two lads refused to have their hair cut so I think that swung more votes for me.”
Yesterday Michael met Anthony’s family in Consett, County Durham, and disco danced in front of a thousand people at a Newcastle club. He will be back for Sunday’s edition of Big Brother’s Little Brother for an update.
“All the other lookalikes have met the real housemate when they have been evicted,” added Michael. “So I may get to meet Anthony myself.
“He is the favourite to win at the moment. If he did, I’d consider being a full-time lookalike - if the money’s good!”
