I really don't understand this buisness about going to the diary room, wanting to leave. The people who audition for big brother should make sure they know what they are going into. There must have been quite a few people doing this sort of thing, just stay in the house and stick it out. They don't even have to mingle with the people they don't like, but leaving. And besides, this is the big brother experience, one in a lifetime thing and all that. Derek surprised me the most, i really thought he was stronger than that, still........

I think it's really selfish, but then most of them are this year, so why should we be surprised. In fairness, even with the extensive warnings and preparation you receive from the producers, I'm sure people are not fully aware (I certainly wasn't) of what to expect once you're in there. I would have hated to shower in those exposed outdoor showers for example, although we had no idea about our showering facilites before we went in. You adapt, don't you though? But I agree, it takes a certain strength of character to stick it out and I still think that the next person who whitters about it in the diary room should be shown the back door and ordered out through it STRAIGHT AWAY. No going in to retrieve possessions, no goodbyes, no crowd and no interview with Davina.

But then Derek only tends to say he wants to leave when he is up for eviction...they rest of the time he just says the hosue is unbearable.

Face saving or Tactical? (or both)

This is what i'm thinking CC, i don't really think they are that stressed, it would show as well. I just think it's all about tactics, that's all, just tactics.

Derek's bleating is wearing pretty thin. I hope I get to be one of the Big Brothers next year and I'll soon ensure short shrift for any who complain.

Is there a possibilty of that then Cameron??

It may actually be useful to have ex-HMs in the BB room because although BB can't really get personal (however this year they've been more so, it's been better IMO) the people that have been through it may know which sort of questions to ask etc. Especially the ones that found it the hardest.

How about a weekly panel show where all the past winners give their opinions ..that would be quite good.

well maybe not just the winners, ex HMs maybe more because although they won it would likely be more interesting to have a wider range of views.

They don't like that though. They want to avoid the has-beens and focus on the newbies, which is a natural enough desire I would say.

They strive to avoid comparisons with past years, so bringing in former housemates would never do. On top of which, there is the chance that far too much of the insight and secrecy would be lost.

What would the pop-psychs do, for example? I think having people who've been on the house on subsequent programmes risks blowing stuff out of the water that Big Brother would rather leave submerged. I'm not bigging anybody up by saying that, and I'm not saying that previous housemates know it all, but there would be an element of danger in allowing some of them (us) free speech on such a related programme.
