My views are my own and I dont begrudge or despise anyone for having their own.
Also, being an Aussie living in Australia means i am 9000 miles away from England and have no emotional connection or family concerns over the London Bombings.

I'd have to question BB's motives in NOT telling the housemates about whats happened in the last two weeks. Some people havesaid to me it is because of the whole no contact with the outside world thing.
Does anyone really think this to be the case?
I highly doubt it.
If BB did tell the housemates i think there is every possibility that most, if not all them would leave the house immediately and i think that BB knows this. It would be highly unlikely that they would have a contingency plan to cover this and they would be force to end the season, losing them millions of dollars ( pounds ) in advertising revenue etc etc.
Now with this second lot of attacks morallyi believe they should be told.
Yes, i know it wouldn't be good business sense to let them in on whats happened, but sometime people are more important.
BB could also face some huge backlash by not telling the Housemates.
I think there is every chance there might be yet another attack.
Now what if a loved one of one of the housemates was killed?
The producers would not only have to break the bad news to the housemate..but they would also have to tell them that this was the third, fourth...etc..etc such attack.
I dunno, i just think some things are bigger than a silly little tv show.
I just hope some terrorist doesnt get it into his head to parachute in a suicide bomb to the house and kill a few people in front of millions of viewers around the world.

I'm afraid that we're not allowed to be told anything about the outside world. When we did it, the war in Iraq had just finished and we didn't have a clue if things had got any worse or better and then we had a bomb scare at the Big Brother house and got evacuated for a couple of hours....that was the only time we were allowed contact with the outside world...even then we weren't allowed to speak to anybody...just between ourselves
Also, we have to give them 3 scenarios before going into the house with which big brother is allowed to tell us about the outside world, i.e if a family member is ill or sick can be one of them

I still don't think they should be told.

As has been argued previously, the best way to deal with situations like that is to carry on as much as normal as possible.

You have made very valid points about the show potentially losing revenue and that is, I'm sure, a consideration for the producers.

What does the situation stand to gain by the housemates being told?

I may think like that because I would prefer not to have been told. There's no question it's a difficult area with probably no right and wrong but a lot of area for discussion.

I feel they have the right to know! I would want to know if I was stuck in the bb house!!

As Ray says, you are allowed to note three incidents that you would like to be told about. If you state "death or serious injury/illness of a family member" that would cover it.

It can't be easy for the producers.

I have had conflicting views about this since the atrocity two weeks ago. God forbid that something like this should ever happen.... but imagine if a friend or relative of one of the HMs should be killed or injured in an attack before BB ends? There is a - thankfully - small risk that that could happen. I think that the HM would be justifiably angry and distressed that they never had the option to leave when the original attack happened.

To be honest, I was fairly sure that the bombings 2 weeks ago would be the last incidents London would see for a while, but only two weeks later we have further incidents. It's more than a little disturbing.

As far as I recall in BBUSA an individual HM was told about 9/11 because a relative had been involved

I think HM's should be told. It's only a gameshow, and some things are far more important.

I would imagine Endemol will have consulted each housemates families and if they was a possiblity that a housemate would want to know then the families would have indicated this.

I think that as the rest of London are getting on with it then so should Big Brother. Why should we let these people have their way and change the way we live? I would also argue that "every possibility that most, if not all them would leave the house immediately " isn't in fact the case. I am also 100% sure that if any of their family or friends were affected then the housemates WOULD be told.

I think the housemates have the right to know that their country is being attacked by the CIA/NSA/Alqueda/George Bush ...or whoever.

I sure as hell wouldnt want to be living in one of the most publicly displayed houses in the world right now.

They should only be told if they know relatives caught up in the trauma in my humble opinion....

I'm not sure that they have a 'right' to know, perhaps they do - I'm still pondering that one.

If they had specifically wanted to be informed of terrorist attacks, they could have stated that option on their forms under the section where you can list the incidents you want to be informed about if they occur. As I said, death/serious illness/injury of a family memeber is an option that covers many happenings and that's maybe an option that a lot of housemates go for.

If one housemate (or their family) was affected by something of this nature, I'm confident that the family would be consulted in-depth by the Big Brother family team as to the best course of action.

I don't think it's feasible that one housemate be told and the rest not, unless that housemate is brought to the diary room and advised to leave the house without going back in, or has a chance to speak face to face with family members in the diary room to be told what has happened. Even then, the remaining housemates (even having had it explained that the departed housemate has suffered a family tragedy or whatever) wouldn't be able to continue their day-to-day business without concern - I think it would potentially put too much pressure on those remaining.

personally I think HMs should be told regardless

however I can understand this would skew things severely, what would happen if a few HMs decided to quit.

BB wouldn't want to lose out on that revenue and there's no way that new HMs would be brought in
