Uh, how did Eugene suck up to Science? I'm sure Eugene was actually the only one who told Science he was out of order for moving Orlaith's washing.

Eugene didn't stick up for Orlaith nearly as much as he should have. Any gentleman, would have told Science what they thought of him, when they saw how puzzled and upset Orlaith was. Instead, Eugene just sat there and kept quiet, frightened of being nominated probably. Yes, he did stick up for Orlaith a bit, a "bit", but not nearly as much as he should have though.

But my point is that he was the only one, right? I didn't see anyone else do it.

Because the thing you have to remember about Science is that if you shouted at him he'd do the same back to you. If you wanted to actually get through to him you had to sit him down and calmly explain what he'd done wrong. How woukld 'telling him what he thought of him make a difference? Would the Science we know have listened to criticism? No. I think Eugene dealt with him in a way Science would prefer, talking to him like an adult and not shouting and screaming.

But maybe Orlaith will have a 'real' gentleman defend her when she actually starts acting like a lady.
