What did Makosi say? I must have missed that. I work too long hours to find the time to watch it mostly so I have to catch up on here when I'm not working. Did she say she wouldn't have taken the money? I really don't know much other than that he was offered 'half of the prize fund' and that he accepted it. :D

Mockosi did say she wouldn't have taken it but of course she thinks she would have got it anyway as she is convinced she will win

Sadly it wont harm his chances.

His supporters have just spinned what he did into a positive light.
If he had rejected the money his fans would have said "typical Eugene. Selfless till the end."

But surely as he didn't do that they should be condemning him? No, not a bit of it. Apparently he did it "so at least two people are winners"

What crap.He was guarenteeing himself a cut of the prize money. I dont blame him for that, but as someone with such lofty morals surely he shouldnt have accepted it?

And, of course the pathetic blarting that followed it last night will have had led his equally sappy fans into a massive chorus of "Awwwwwwwww. Isnt he sweet"

Well,no. He is an inadequate weakling.

Rant over.

As pikeylass pointed out, and for the very way you've demonstrated, it was a 'poison chalice'. Damned if you take it and damned if you don't.

I don't think many of those who were voting for Eugene will be put off by the fact that he took the money - if they cared enough to vote, the fact that he didn't refuse 50K is not going to make his fans turn against him.

But having watched the repeat of last night's show, I/m sure the way Anthony showed genuine concern for Craig at eviction time will gain him (Ant) many more (deserved) votes.

I don't think it was a 'poison chalice' at all. If it were anybody else I am sure they would also have accepted the money. But they hadn't set themselves up into the position of moral superiority that Eugene had.

People love a loser and no matter what Eugene did they would still back him. It seems that any attention Eugene gets is good attention.

Above all else, though what annoys me is that he hasn't been in the show long enough to be crowned a winner. He has been in there, what, five or six weeks? That is nowhere near enough time to be a deserving winner as anything could have happened if he had been in there for the full term to have altered his popularity.

Cameron, would it have bothered you if someone came in BB4 half way through and pipped you at the post?

It didn't bother me in the least, because I genuinely wasn't there for the money. Having said that, some of the BB4 housemates were very concerned at the prospect of Lisa waltzing in and waltzing off with the prize. Thankfully, there is a parable in the bible that illustrates the situation nicely - I'm not preaching, just letting you know what happened during BB4. A vineyard owner employs somebody at 6am, somebody else at 9am, somebody at noon and somebody at 3pm. At 6pm when the day's work is finished, each worker receives identical pay, even though they've worked different hours. Some complain and the vineyard owner asks if they'd agreed at 6am or 9am or whatever do to the work for a set fee. Of course, they had so shouldn't have been annoyed. That was good enough for me.

Again, not meaning to preach, just explaining my answer with real evidence from BB4.

I say he has done himself few favours, but voters may appreciate his honesty and the fact that he seemed to feel so down about it.
I think if he had know about the potential doubling prize fund, he may have acted differently, because he's smart enough to realise he's probably well liked on the outside, which he is, and would have had a good chance of scooping the £200k. Plus he would have gained more votes by not taking the money (imo).

I still think he has a very good chance of winning, the public clearly don't like Kinga and Makosi so it's a 50/50 chance between him and Anthony. He's either going to get the other £50,000 or share it with the winner. I personally think whatever happens he's the real winner for the decision he had to make. Anyone in those circumstances would have found that decision incredibly hard, especially the money sitting in front of you tempting you like that and nobody can judge unless in the same situation. He picked up what Big Brother said wrong, easily done when your in a tense position like he was, he thought he was going to get evicted so goes to prove he isn't necessarily in it to win it, he would have been criticised whatever decision he made. I've noticed he was been feeling extremely guilty for still remaining in the house when some of the "first" housemates have been voted out over him.

Eugene to win. :D

seems to me, Eugene thought he'd get evicted if he took the money- thus
losing the chance to win the big prize.
He decided to cut his loses and take half.

..a wise decision, in my opinion.

I think this might have spoilt his chances of winning, not because of the fact that he is a selfish person and all that, but because why should he get one half of the prize money and then get the other half as well. People might be seeing it this way, i know i am. I'm not thinking to myself, the selfish sod, i'm just basically thinking, why should he be allowed to win now. So, this is my thoughts anyway.

I am very interested as to how you can justify making this remark. ASAP.
