A County Durham town is preparing to welcome Big Brother winner Anthony Hutton back home on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old, from Consett, was crowned winner of the sixth series of the programme on Friday night.

Derwentside District Council has organised a special welcome home for him at the Blackhill and Consett park on Tuesday afternoon.

The council also said it planned to appoint him as its official ambassador for young people.

Council leader Councillor Alex Watson said: "Anthony has certainly put Consett on the map.

"We are pleased to be able to recognise Anthony's achievement by bestowing upon him the honour as ambassador for young people.

"We have all read in the press how Anthony has helped put Consett on the map and I am sure that in the future as an ambassador with family connections in the district he will continue to do so.

"We hope that he will help us motivate other young people in the district to achieve personal success."

Exactly, but that's the council for you. All they care about are their own interests. If they have asked him first, then fair enough, but if they haven't....

D.A. ... Do you have to learn anything about yourself to make a success of things? If he was happy as he was and went in to have a good time and hoped to win and ended up doing so, was there a personal lesson to be learnt?

Some people take inspiration from "naturals" - some people take inspiration from others who work hard.

I think by saying that he's learnt nothing he states eather that he's pretty much known himself before and been happy about it allready, and just didn't see anything he hadn't seen before or that he just went in having a layed back attitude and not stressing that much about things. He's a young bloke who seems to want to have fun, I don't think that kind of guys analyze things that much. It's no crime, it's just his way of life at the moment.

*nods*

Some people will perceive that as cocky, arrogant etc. and some will see it as relaxed, laid-back and so on.

Right. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

I think Anthony was close to the line, before being classed as cocky, but not quite. I watched the way he went on that final night, and he certainly wasn't shy by any means, or being sensible if you like. But i wouldn't class him as being cocky though. He did admit that the whole process of winning felt astronimical, and that he couldn't take in what was happening. You know, it's not like he totally thought he was going to win, and that he sat in the chair just calm as can be. I certainly wouldn't have went on the way he was going on though, lying down for the camera's, that sort of thing. But, i think he JUST did okay.

You're right zx50. He's a performer, and did his 'natural' thaang when he was going in and when he was leaving too. In the house, where there is no visible audience, he 'performed' less.

There's nothing wrong with appreciating yourself. If you don't, who will? I know it irritates some people, but then again so does everything else you do. There's always someone who doesn't like you no matter what you do or how you present yourself. You just have to find a way that works for you and live with it.

This doesn't include slandering other people and beeing mean. That's a whole different story.
