Big Brother winner Anthony Hutton is recovering at home after being attacked in a Manchester nightclub.

The 24-year-old was treated in hospital for what police described as minor facial injuries.

Anthony, who won last year's reality TV show, was on a night out with friends in Manchester last weekend when a fight broke out.

Recovering at home in Consett, County Durham, he said: "I'm OK, I feel fine, but I am not too happy about the state of my face . . . what with me being a vain young lad.

"I'm a bit battered and bruised."

Anthony was treated for cuts and bruises at Manchester Royal Infirmary after the incident in the Baby Grand club, in Manchester.

He had been making a personal appearance in Chester on Friday night and stayed in the North West to go out with friends the following night.

A police spokeswoman said: "Officers went to Baby Grand at around 4.10am, where a 24-year-old man was found with minor facial injuries. He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary for treatment and was subsequently discharged.

"A 25-year-old man from Higher Poynton was arrested at the scene on suspicion of a Section 47 assault. He has been bailed until May 7, pending further inquiries."

Anthony won £50,000 last summer in Big Brother.

Since leaving the house, the former 1970s-style nightclub dancer has released a keep-fit DVD and appeared in pantomime in Darlington.

He also appeared in celebrity football show The Match, at St James' Park, in October and is to audition for a part in New Money, a £5m film set in Newcastle.

He said: "There are a couple of things in the pipeline for the summer which, if they come off, I'll be really chuffed about."

A 25-year-old man has been given a police caution after he beat up a Big Brother winner in a nightclub, police said.

Anthony Hutton, the winner of Big Brother 2005, was left with cuts and bruises after a brawl at Manchester's trendy Baby Grand club last month.

The 24-year-old reality television star, from Consett in County Durham, was partying in Baby Grand in the early hours of Sunday April 2 when the fight broke out.

He was treated for minor facial injuries at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and later discharged.

Police arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of section 47 assault that night and bailed him pending further enquiries.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the man had been cautioned.

He said: "Police in Manchester city centre were called to Peter Street in the early hours of Sunday April 2 2006, following a report a man had been assaulted.

"Officers went to Baby Grand at around 4.10am where a 24-year-old man was found with minor facial injuries.

"A 25-year-old man from Higher Poynton was given a caution for assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Sunday 7 May 2006."

Hutton, who had been staying in Manchester with friends following a public appearance in Chester on the Friday night, won £50,000 last summer after the British public voted him their favourite contestant in the Big Brother house.

Next time he visits the hospital maybe he could be a little more curteous and less of the prima donna syndrome, most of my colleages found his behaviuor disgusting and that is all i'm going to say on that little matter.

Why have you waited so long, to mention this. And if you work in the hospital you should not be saying anything. Also I know Anthony can be a fool with drink in him, but I can't imagine him being a prima donna. For what I have heard, from the state he was in, I would say he would have been in pain. And like anybody else who is in pain, would be very upset.
