I think the benefit of hindsight is a marvellous thing. The amount of times I kicked myself mentally and emotionally because I didnt spot it sooner, or because I didnt recognise that his "three years old going on thirty five" mentality was not the norm. At the time, he was my only child, so I thought he was a bit quirky and fairly bright.

He is remarkably bright, he has an IQ in the 140s and has been able to read at the age of 17+ years since he was 5 years old. Hes loving and caring and gentle and all the sorts of qualities you want in your kids. He doesnt react with excitement in the same way as most kids, and to feel safe he needs to know whats happening from one five minutes to the next and he needs to know facts, he doesnt do fantasy or make believe.

One of my favourite examples of his need to know facts and not illusions, was when he was 6 years old and he asked me about sex. He had heard stuff in the playground and wanted to know what it meant. Knowing him as I did, I knew that he wouldnt be fobbed off with the birds and the bees or the stork or any of those shenanigans, so I kinda picked my way through a conversation about the basics of sex, not too much gory detail, but the whys and wherefores and the reasons behind it all.

He sat there for a while, absorbing what I told him, and then fixed me straight in the eye and said "Mum, the next time you and Dad have sex, can I watch?"

There was no perverted intent there, he just wanted to see what I was talking about because it wasnt making sense in his head. I explained that it was a private act between two adults that love each other and that usually people werent invited to watch and he was satisfied with that, and now has a relatively open attitude to the whole idea. He still finds it a bit "ew", but he will discuss it openly without fear, which is what I hoped to achieve. Which is nice.

I'll shut up now. ;)

no need of shutting up hon when you have something relevant to say! I find it hard to shut up even when what I'm saying is irrelevant nonsense so you go for it! :D

I wish Eugine all the best, he was the most decent person in that house, and it's a pity he didnt win :-? but to be honest he'll do better than Anthony anyday. From what I've seen of those heat pic's he's looking good, might be the next James Bond ()^ Good luck to him :D

isn't it funny that at the end of the day - and despite all the shenanigans and hype that Endemol think 'we' want - that normal joe public generally want the nice guys to win?! :D

It is quite sweet really Felicity. Like when Joe Pasquale won the Celebrity what-sit or when Cameron won BB3 (or 4?) I can never remember which HM came from which year! But it's true, generally the GBP do want the nice guy to win. Admittedly I find Anthony a bit conceited and vapid but he's a nice enough guy imo and compared to most of them a very nice guy. Would have preferred Eugene to win but if not him then Anthony or even Kinga as they seemed (nobody's perfect I know) but the nicest. Failing that maybe Science, Mary or Roberto. Even Craig. Hmmm who does that leave...? ;) ::lol::

Yeah, I seem to be drawn to the nice ones too. (no matter what people say about him stinking and everything - I thought Spencer was lovely except when he burped  ) Mind you I thought all the finalists in BB4 (that's the one Cameron won!) were nice enough, as they were in BB3 and 2 (excepting on in BB3 who I wasn't a huge fan of... but at least he wasn't 'nasty' in that respect.).

This might be why Endemol are mucking up big brother every year for, because they are trying to figure out what the public want. They are interferring too much in the programme, trying to do this and that so the contestant who they think will bring them lots of money through the voting system wins. I wonder what it would be like if they never interferred at all, if they just let the programme run it's course without any "twists" at all. But are we likely to see this happening, maybe, maybe not. There's one things for sure, they won't want to do anything that's going to lose them money, the shock of it

In response to what I have read so far, I can confirm that I have already discussed this issue with Eugene himself and he has admitted to me that he may well have the condition himself but has never actually been diagnosed. I last week have challenged this with his friends and what I meant was by Eugene not having close friends, was, without necessarily wanting to or meaning to offend his actual friends, people with an understanding of or who actually have a diagnosis of Aspergers' Syndrome. As someone who has such a diagnosis I can most certainly relate to Eugene and his time in the house and all I can say is I shall wait until he has been able to visit his GP, which I have now left him to do.
