A Doctor from Gloucestershire has been judging nominations for a prestigious book prize.Researcher Dr Catherine Kendall has used her knowledge of science and experience as a mum to choose the shortlist for this year's Royal Society Junior Prize for Science Books.

She was one of a panel of five judges, including BBC Newsround presenter Sonali Gudka and Sky Brainiac's Jon Tickle.

Science books put to the test

SIX Ponteland Community High School students will help choose the winner of this year’s Royal Society Junior Prize for Science Books, one of the world’s most prestigious awards for science writing.

The winning book will be picked from a shortlist chosen with the help of Jon Tickle from Sky TV’s Brainiac programme and BBC Newsround presenter Sonali Gudka.
