ZIMBABWEAN Big Brother babe, Makosi Musambasi's claims she eats dog and horse meat could bolster stereotypical views of Africans, it was feared last night.
Zimbabweans rounded on her on internet chatrooms after the stunning remarks on the UK reality TV show watched by an average seven million people daily.
"I eat fish, I've tasted dog, I've tasted cat, I've eaten bird saliva soup," said the 24-year-old cardiac nurse to stunned housemates.
Appearing to offer some wisdom to the other housemates shocked at the African's bizarre eating habits, housemate Kemal quipped: "Some dogs are especially bred for food. They don't just come round and take your Alsatian."
But Zimbabweans who have watched in disbelief as Makosi's behaviour in the house flactuates from the bizarre to the outrageous shot back last night.
"I am not happy with this," wrote one Tari on the New Zimbabwe.com Forum. "Now people will think we eat dogs in Zimbabwe."
Another Zimbabwean poster, who calls himself Wezhira, added: "I almost kicked my TV when she said that. I think she has run out of tricks, and it's time she joins us at home."
Makosi's odd behavior has stunned even her family who admit she has gone over the top. Her sister, Veronica, who is also a nurse in the UK said in a recent interview: "There are things my sister has done on TV that I wish she hadn't done. And I understand to an extent why people have called her irresponsible for what she's done, but she is not."
Veronica claimed in the same interview with a glossy British magazine that her sister had gone into Big Brother to raise money for their mother's cancer operation. She claims her mum, Sennie, has apparently been quietly battling cancer and has a tumor behind her right eye.
"Makosi is a loving daughter who is trying to save her mother," said Veronica at the risk of accusations she is trying to use her mum's condition to buy sympathy for her sister.
"I am sick and tired of Makosi's lies, " said another poster Cherry Pie.
Posting under the name Dreadmost, another Zimbabwean offered his take on Makosi's shock comments: "Maybe she did (eat dogs). I remember the old days when I was contracted to this Chinese company constructing the Beitbridge-Boterekwa Road. These guys used to go and buy dogs. I am sure a number of Zimbabweans had a taste of dog meat then."
Buju T lashed out: "Makosi is a nut-case. At the start, she had my vote but of late her lies have grown old and silly. Stupid girl!"
Another poster, Uprising, thought Makosi's comments were an SOS on behalf of impoverished Zimbabweans, saying: "Makosi is right. Most people in Zimbabwe eat no better than dogs. Good on her for reminding everyone."
They don't exactly eat dogs, do they Uprising?
