He went into 'media' mode during the Interview. Nothing wrong with that - it was his radio station training coming out, and he conscious of how the interview should proceed.
I once won a radio competition, and for the prize, had to do a live 'Treasure Hunt' kind of thing on the airwaves, where I was required to go around a posh store, and search for clues. Even though the presenters hadn't really asked to me 'ham it up', I found myself being acutely aware of whether or not 'it' sounded like entertaining stuff - so much so, that when I had actually spotted the final clue (meaning I'd won about £5000 worth of shopping there), I pretended not to see it for a few more minutes - because I didn't want to spoil things for the listeners. Having listened to a lot of live radio, I couldn't help but strive to be 'exciting'.
Luckily, as it wasn't t.v., there was no necessity for me to do any 'posing'.
