The main bit is obviously about the holiday this week and how it is very hot! The flights were fine but it's taking a wee while to get the feeling of being on holiday apparently. Mentions staying with a friend he met 10 years ago in America and how thanks to email etc it doesn't feel like that long since last seeing eachother. Seeing the Opera House and Harbour Bridge close up (after passing them on the train on the way in) and liking the feeling of the sea spray while on the ferry as it reminded him of childhood.
Hosting the hotel "Oscars" in Glasgow and mentions some of the winners including the Raemoir one in Banchory (it's bonnie from the outside!).
Thankfully the
website (click here) have put up this wee story as i t's not really one you can summarise.
I Heard a great story the other night, when I was out at a dinner.
It's about an elderly Orcadian man who gets called to his wife's deathbed.
She tells him: "In 60 years of happy marriage, there is just one thing that we've not seen eye-to-eye on.
"I know you have never got on with my sister Violet, but it would mean the world to me if you would take her with you in the head mourners' car on the day of my funeral."
The old man strokes his chin and agreed that he and his sister-in-law had never really seen eye-to-eye.
"Weel," says the old man, "You ken I will do anything for you, so I will agree to take Violet in the car with me. But just as long as you know it will fairly ruin me day..."
