EXCLUSIVE PICTURES FROM MISS ZIMBABWE UK 2005 HERE 08/29/2005 13:54:29

BIG Brother babe Makosi Musambasi caused a scrum on Saturday night as she waltzed her way into the Tottenham Green Leisure Centre where hundreds of Zimbabweans attended the Miss Zimbabwe UK beauty pageant.

Arriving late as a surprise guest at the event sponsored by ZimExpo, the sexy Zimbabwean beauty temporarily stole the show as she was mobbed by her fellow countrymen in her first engagement with a Zimbabwean crowd since leaving Big Brother.

When Zimbabweans were not mobbing Makosi, they witnessed a vastly improved field of Zimbabwean beauties from last year, and the winner -- 17-year-old Primrose Mutsigiri from Doncaster -- was roundly cheered in the packed hall.

After last year's debacle when a non-Zimbabwean was crowned, the Miss Zimbabwe organisers went out to appease a Zimbabwean crowd demanding quality -- and deliver, they did.

Mutsigiri's first princess was 24-year-old Dorothy Masango a nurse from Birmingham and the second princess 17-year-old media studies student Tessa Mxotshwa from Leicester.

Miss Zimbabwe UK 2004 winner Hilda Mate-Kole was on hand to crown her successor.

In an unprepared short speech, Makosi told the delirious crowd: "Thank you for all the support, you have been really wonderful, and thank you for having me. I am so excited to be here."

Makosi, accompanied by her cousin, Rumbi, also showed she still has a taste for African music as she gyrated to the Trompies' hit tune Sweet Lavo.

It appeared all had been forgiven, and she continued to charm her way into the hearts of Zimbabweans -- like she so skilfully did her British fans -- posing for pictures at the end and dishing hugs to strangers and some long lost friends.

I do wish she'd go away.

I just dont buy tabloids so that way I can avoid looking at her smug face.
If she gets on the front cover of Heat I won't be buying that either...but the general British public's seemingly unquenchable appetite for these 'slabs' mean we'll probably see a lot more of her til she does fade into the obscurity she so deserves :-?

She was, never-the-less the biggest star of BB this year and along with Eugene the one people will remember most.

 The only think makosi will be remembered for is her constant lying, her arrogance and self interest. Indeed the worst hm ever over the 6 series. I really never want to hear from her again and sincerely hope she gets deported.

I don't know what Makosi did exactly at this contest, but she should have let the winner of this competition have as much attention as she could. Makosi won big brother, but this was another womans day, and Makosi should have remembered that, IF she done anything to steal the limelight away from her.

I agree about Makosi but id say the other one would be Craig.
I know Craig hasnt done well media wise but he was definitley one of the more entertaining housemates! AND i can't see people forgetting him any time soon.

I don;t like what Makosis wearing there, she normally has great fashion sense but that looks awful on her.

No but it is rumoured that travel agents have been busy in the town on the back of this 'news'.

• Makosi steals show at Miss Zim UK
By Shapiro
Last updated: 08/31/2005 04:12:26

OH dear! Somebody tell us it's not really true.

For a few days, it appeared to have gone unnoticed until an alert New Zimbabwe.com reader and fashion enthusiast pointed to the striking similarities between Makosi Musambasi's striking yellow outfit, worn at the Dukes of Hazzard movie's UK premiere two weeks back, and Miss Zimbabwe UK 2004 winner Hila Mate-Kole's yellow frock worn at the Miss Zimbabwe UK 2005 beauty pageant last Saturday.

Innocent, some will say, pointing to the possibility that they may share a designer...or suggest it's just a similar outfit from some other designer.

It's cruel on Hilda to even begin to think it's the same dress!

But that's just what New Zimbabwe.com reader Eleanor Madziva thought when she saw our exclusive snaps of Hilda at the Miss Zimbabwe pageant in Tottenham, London, last Saturday.

"Makosi's dress was colourful, it showed her curvy body, a bit of cleavage and made her look beautiful, so I wasn't going to forget it so quickly," Madziva said last night. "I wasn't expecting the same dress so soon afterwards and I guess if people are going to borrow, they musn't make it so obvious."

Last night, friends confirmed Hilda and Makosi were close friends, adding that Makosi had come to the Miss Zimbabwe pageant in 2004 to support Hilda who eventually won amid a volley of protests over accusations she was in fact Ghanaian.

"There is simply no way Hilda would have failed to notice Makosi had the same dress a week before, which would suggest she wore it deliberately, just hoping people won't notice. It looks more likely it might be the same dress," a fashion expert told us last night after being shown the snaps.
