It is true that the appalling events going on in Zimbabwe dwarf the problems of an ex-pat living in Britain who made a complete fool of herself in a British reality show.

Mugabe has blood on his hands & history will remember this.

No, I don't like to see incessant abuse of anybody, especially dull, naive characters such as Makosi, but as Cameron says, she should be treated fairly & equally within the system.

Its been reported today that a test case by an asylum seeker from Zimbabwe has been won, which puts into doubt the safety of any returning asylum seekers to Zimbabwe and will give a much stronger case to those seeking asylum on grounds of risk of harm if deported.

I guess one certain weaved warrior is breathing a bit of a sigh of relief this morning. I know I am. Even if shes deported now, at least it unlikely be back to where she's in the most danger.

Note:- this post has been edited to reflect the mornings news more accurately. I sped over here half cocked. Sorry ;)

Ignore me. I cant read today at all.

From what I have found so far, I think that you can be expelled to outside of the EU.

Dont really know enough to make proper comment. Researching now though... More as I find it, and make it make sense in my head. Its full of big words.

It would appear that you can strike a deal with other countries to hold your deportees for you. According to one website I read, we have such an agreement with Jordan. It came in for a lot of stick from human rights groups because the deportees should be protected as per basic human rights, but despite assurances, there are no guarantees that the deportees will not be mistreated. Furthermore, from what I can glean, the deportees then fall under the laws of their host country and can be detained longer because of that if the laws of that country differ.
