Has anybody read the article in March's Cosmopolitan?

Is it allowed to be posted here? (I have it and could type it up if allowed)

No, but I don't know ANYONE that really reads it, or anything similar. The odd copy of Heat perhaps for a bit of gossip, but even then, it's not taken seriously. :D

Oh no, no comparison.

Those magazines are whatever the opposite of misoginistic is. They expect all women to be the sort I would run a mile from-power mad, selfish, aggressive, etc. To be honest, I haven't read one of those mags for years, but I assume they're just the same as ever. Why anyone would want to be like that, I have no idea. Can't think it would make them happier to be like that.

Due to copyright issues, you shouldn't actually copy the article, but you could put a piece about it in your own words if you like.

Agree TOTALLY CT. My aunt had a copy of Cosmopolitan magazine or something similar and I got to about the contents page and realised there was actually nothing at all of interest inside it.

There is only one magazine I like and therefore it's the only one I buy, wouldn't be taken in by that garbage.

Ok Christine - I thought that would likely be the case. I'll do that then, but not tonight LOL beauty sleep required, meeting Miss Scotland tomorrow morning!

I loved Cosmopolitan in the 1980's - was quite different then. Tom Crabtree and Irma Kurtz were brilliant. And even Marcelle D'Argy Smith was very entertaining (you appeared on t.v. with her last year, Cameron :D )

It was all about empowering women then. Yes, there was always the odd mention of sex (it's part of life, isn't it)...but nowadays Cosmo's a very different publication. Seems to fit in with the 'change yourself to be accepted' culture. :-?

But to be fair, I haven't bought it for years, and yes, if it's the Hairdressers, I'd certainly give it a serious look.

oooh Tom Crabtree! He was fab.. I used to read Cosmo when I was about 15/16 and I loved it.. I think it has changed a fair bit over the years, it certainly looks much more aggressive now than it did then.

I never buy 'women's mags' these days... too busy to read them and they seem to be full of adverts anyway.

oh dear :oops:

I seem to be the only person then who gives these magazines house room.... :eek: But I spose I can at least take some credit for the inspiration for the podcast rant {@}

Realised when lying in bed last night (on weeks like this everything goes through my head when lying in bed...) just how stupid that statement is because it looks like that one magazine is probably one of those ones. Can verify that it's definitely not. Though it's also a lie in the fact that I bought another magazine at the weekend (of a similar genre) so this month two have been purchased despite not having much spare money. Oops.

well Felicity I will own up to buying mags too...although i don't ever get Cosmo, copies of Marie Claire, Red and Grazia have been known to be lying around in my living room...

They're usually just something to sit down and relax with but have to admit I've been buying them less, recently...as I realised I am a) never going to want to buy a handbag for £200, b) don't care that the latest must-have skirt actually looks like a mussed up hanky and c) don't have anyone to practice the 100 hottest sex tips of the month on (might regret admitting that, lol)
