Bright sunshine and bright lights heralded the switch-on of this year's summer illuminations in Bognor Regis.
The mainly blue sky ensured that low temperatures failed to stop large crowds joining in the fun along the seafront during the daytime last weekend.
A further crowd of 1,500-2,000 people turned out to watch the lights being switched on last Saturday night by
2005 Big Brother personality, Eugene Sully.
The runner-up from the popular reality television show pushed the low-tech plunger that energised what the organisers boast is the best set of lights along the south coast.
The organisers at Bognor Regis Seafront Lights believed Eugene's presence attracted a much younger crowd than usual to the occasion.
MC Eric Jack put Crawley resident Eugene on the spot with questions about life in the Big Brother house and what he had since done.
Eugene was kept busy after the switch on, signing autographs and being interviewed by Bognor film-makers for their website.
His pressing of the plunger brought into action a grand firework display from the pier which lasted ten minutes and included a special '10' set piece to mark the lighting team's tenth season.
