It's that time of year again girls - of all ages. Time to wear your hearts on your sleeves and start watching out for the Evening Express's very special Romeo.

Yes, once again, to mark Valentine's Day former Big Brother winner Cameron Stout is getting ready to spend a whole week out and about in the North-east in his Search For The Golden Rose.

His magical mission is to hand out 1,000 beautiful red roses to the lovely ladies he meets on his travels - that's 200 every day.

From teenagers to thirty-somethings, new mums to grandmas, married ladies to young-free-and-singles - our handsome Mr Romance is looking forward to meeting every one of you.

And each day Cameron will be on the look-out for the most special woman of all - the one who stands out as worthy of winning the scintillating Golden Rose.

From each day he will pick 50 finalists.

At the end of the week our Romeo will surprise a lucky Juliet with the Golden Rose - and tickets to a fantastic holiday for two in Paris - the city of love.

So where should you look out for Cameron to be in with a chance of winning?

Just about everywhere!

From next Monday, February 4, until Friday, February 8, he'll be popping up in just about every area of the North-east - from Buchan in the north, to Huntly, Donside and Deeside, and then Mearns in the south along with some special dates in the city itself.

Watch out for him on your local high street or supermarket or maybe at the next table in your favourite cafe.

Togged out in his smart tuxedo with a red rose in his buttonhole, Cameron will be travelling in style in a fantastic 13-seater black Hummer-style limo courtesy of Hollywood Cars.

So why not make yourself stand out in the crowds around him? That's what our previous Valentine's competition winners did.

First to scoop the Golden Rose in 2005 was Ellon estate agent and mum-of-two Liz Middleton, who took husband Neil to Paris.

In 2006, 29-year-old social worker Kim Duguid, from Aberdeen's Cornhill, was the one to get the surprise of her life when Cameron presented her with the Golden Rose.

Cameron said: "I just can't wait to get into that brilliant car and start my travels round the North-east.

"It's a huge honour getting to meet so many wonderful women of all ladies - so I hope you're all getting ready to receive a red rose.

"Here's a secret. One of the keys to winning this competition is having a sense of humour.

"If you're happy and laughing - everyone is. It's a fun competition and fun is exactly what I'm looking for.

"See you next week!"

CAM YOU FEEL THE LOVE?

Image

He's got the tux. He's got the luxury limo. He's got 1,000 red roses.....

Now all Evening Express Romeo Cameron Stout needs is 1,000 lovely ladies to hand them to!

And our handsome eligible bachelor embarked on his magical mission at first light today.

Passers-by waved and shouted as his black luxury Hummer purred into the centre of Aberdeen ready for his first stop.

It's not meeting 1,000 women that seems to be the highlight this week, eh? ;)

Cameron I think I must've had a text no less than 30 seconds after you'd left "you know where" from one of many rather hyper individuals ;) ::lol::

I saw the car on my way to the dentist y'know. Very impressive and nice and shiny but no pink limo hehe! I was going to wave but figured I'd look a bit of a div waving to blacked out windows.

Gerbilgranny can't help speculating about 'you know where'. She has an image of Jezi emerging from the back room of some rather dodgy establishment, while Cameron tries to avoid an altercation with some fierce looking 'security personnel', at the door.

If you click the above link there are yesterday's pictures by the way. Some v. nice ones from the hospital.

DAY OF HUGS AND KISSES

12:00 - 06 February 2008

Screams of "That's Cameron Stout!" and "He's coming in to see US!"

Yes, Day Two of the Search For the Golden Rose and things got pretty frantic for our Romeo.

The tuxedoed lad was swamped by lovely ladies when his luxury limo glided up to Scotia BBS in Ellon.

As soon as he walked in with his red roses, female staff appeared and began thronging round him.

But first Cameron had to find the lucky lady who had been nominated for a rose - Shona Hay from Udny.

The 23-year-old was nominated by husband Steve. The couple are delighted that Shona is pregnant.

The mum-to-be said: "This is a fantastic surprise - but I must confess I did drop a few hints."

The rest of Mr Roses' morning was spent being surrounded by scores of women in Fraserburgh and Peterhead.

One of the wildest of the Broch bunch was gran-of-four Beldy Blackhall, who abandoned her trolley in Tesco.

Clutching her rose, the 57-year-old declared: "I've never had a flower in my life. My man Billy's not like that."

Inverallochy mum-of-two Claire Buchan did a double-take when Cameron surprised her and 18-month-old daughter Sarah with flowers.

Giving him a thank-you kiss, she said: "What a great thing to happen on a rainy Tuesday."

At ASDA in Peterhead, our man raced through the store to hunt out Julie Cordiner who was celebrating her 42nd birthday.

The mum-of-two said: "I'm just stunned. It's the best present."

Also delighted to get a rose was mum-of-two Louise Laing, 34, of Peterhead.

Formerly from Bucksburn, she said: "A few things have been going badly for me. I was feeling really down this morning. But now maybe getting the rose will change my luck."

Forget the Golden Rose - the girl with the golden tan in the Blue Toon was newly-wed Teresa Ingles.

The 28-year-old wed Lee just three weeks ago in Florida.

Cameron agreed to show Kyle Garnsey, 4, inside the limo, while mum Sarah, 26, got a rose.

Next Cameron headed for Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where staff nurse Diane Wilson, from Westhill, had invited him to the Anchor Unit. The 23-year-old said: "It's fantastic Cameron managed to fit us into his travels. His visit was a real tonic."

Among the patients our Romeo met was 19-year-old Adele Stalker - a student from Stonehaven.

Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia at the end of November and now undergoing chemotherapy, the teenager said: "I just keep focusing on my ambition of being an air stewardess living in Dubai. A trip to Paris would be fabulous as well!"

Our Romeo flirted with the staff, including mum-of-two Dr Beverly Robertson and Dr Meera Kumarakulasingham, from Sri Lanka.

Everyone pictured has a chance of being featured in the Golden Rose supplement on Saturday, from which Cameron will pick his winner.

Great pics from yesterday once again, I have two favourites cos I'm biased but won't say which

Mum spotted Cameron today while doing the shopping. Seems everyone I know has nearly haha!

yesterday....

A TURRIFFIC DAY OUT

Terrific Turriff! That was Cameron Stout's verdict after his first stop on Day 3 of the Search For The Golden Rose.

The moment his limo swung into the town, women of all ages suddenly appeared on the streets waving and trying to catch his attention.

"Take me to Paris, lover boy!" shouted one Juliet before her Romeo had even emerged from the car.

And among the first to insist on a visit were customers and staff from Somerfield who shooed our handsome bachelor into the store to start handing out his 200 roses.

And with perfect timing, mum-of-four Colleen Lampon, 45, from Forglen, appeared with a bowl of steaming melted chocolate and a tray of strawberries.

Cameron cooed: "Now that's what I call breakfast."

Over at Strachan's Pharmacist, assistant Emmeline Balston, 34, reckoned winning the competition would prove a hint for her fiance.

She said: "We've been together for seven years. Maybe a trip to Paris would prompt him to pop the question."

At the Murdoch Allan Bakery, gran-of-six Norma Innes, 63, got a specially warm hug to mark her 43rd wedding anniversary.

And to prove it's a small world, 36-year-old mum-of-two and home-help Susan Mowatt revealed she'd been on the same ferry as Cameron when he made his victorious return to Orkney after winning Big Brother in 2003.

At Inverurie Garden Centre mum-of-two Samantha Tribe, 37, from Chapel of Garioch, said: "What a brilliant idea to brighten up people's days."

For more than an hour, Cameron was virtually under siege in the centre's restaurant handing out roses to everyone from six-week-old babies to sprightly pensioners.

They included three Ellon mums who met at the health centre soon after having their babies a year ago.

The trio still regularly meet up with their toddlers in tow: Jackie Scott, 38, and Vikki, Nicky Phin, 29, and Charlize and Debbie Conway, 37, with little Cerys.

One of the most delighted ladies of the whole day was Kingswells mum-of-two Pamela Duthie, who arrived at the centre for lunch with her friend Jackie Henderson, 43, from Keith-hall.

Pamela, 38, was literally shaking with excitement when Cameron handed her the rose. She said: "I read you were out and about this week and longed to meet you. But I'd no idea where you'd be.

"Then, when I got here and saw the limo outside, I thought: Yessss! I've found him."

Finally, Cameron made a splash in the centre of Inverurie, women almost stopping the heavy traffic to greet him.

Business student Katy Bowman, 20, did a nifty leap into his arms and begged: "If I win the trip to Paris, pleeese come with me!"

Sorry, Katy, but you'll have to join the ever-lengthening queue!

Everyone pictured here has a chance of being featured in Saturday's Golden Rose supplement from which Cameron will pick his winner.

Tears, tears - and more tears. No one was quite prepared for the effect Valentine's hero Cameron Stout would have on two people.

The water works began to flow during his first stop at Asda in Portlethen, on the fourth day of his Search For The Golden Rose.

When our Casanova presented a rose to mum-of-three Sheelagh Tough, she promptly broke down and cried.

As shocked Cameron tried to work out what he'd done wrong, the 33-year-old sobbed: "Oh, I'm so happy! I've wanted to meet you ever since Big Brother."

Whereupon Sheelagh, from Newtonhill, started shaking like a leaf, laughing and yes, bubbling again.

After being presented with her rose and disappearing down an aisle, our Mr Roses suddenly spotted the excited lady whispering on her mobile phone.

As he crept up beside her, Sheelagh screeched with surprise and ... even more tears.

The next waterworks of the day came from annoyed four-year-old Reece Singer, from Westhill.

When his 34-year-old mum, Claire, got a great smacker of a kiss from Cameron at optician's Duncan and Todd, the outraged wee boy protested: "I'm going to tell my dad what you did!"

Read this in tonight's Evening Express - it was the main part of Moreen Simpson's column. There's a funny cartoon picture with it but unfortunately it isn't on the website as far as I can see.

GOLDEN ROSE DUTY'S KILLING MY TOOTSIES

My Voice is going. I've blisters on my pen fingers. Every muscle from my buttocks to my ankles is screaming in agony.

And right down at the tips of my toes, two bright red beacon bunions are beatin' out a ragtime rhythm.

Yes, in spite of the luxury limo, Mo is knackered after a week of covering every nook and cranny of the North-east in the Search For The Golden Rose.

But man - as the lovely Cameron Stout says - it's been brilliant! From the belting rain of Buchan, to the glorious sunshine of Donside and down to the Mearns, Mr Roses has brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of fantastic ladies.

There's a charisma about the Orkney charmer which has lasted from his winning Big Brother back in 2003 and still works its magic today.

Women of all ages adore him, like wonderful 93-year-old Mary who was all for taking him home with her to Ferryhill.

Teenagers dashed from the school gates to crush round him.

And what a marvellous bunch you have all been.

I've laughed so much I've had to hurtle myself, cross-legged, to the nearest loo.

Like the 60-something in Peterhead who scraiked: "He's gorrrgeous. I'll just stand here and gawk at him. At my age that's the only romance I've the energy for."

I've been close to tears seeing the courage some of you show through crushing sorrows.

Like the shop assistant in Aberdeen who was just back to work after the death of her teenage son a few months ago.

As for the patients and staff of the Anchor Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary ... inspirational.

However, I shall risk the wrath of the entire female population of the North-east by haranguing you for your fatal flaw.

Cameron would have got round 2,000 ladies instead of 1,000 if only you didn't have this major hang-up with revealing your ages.

Whenever I ask the hateful question, instead of a number, I get one of the following:

"Over 21." Gee, thanks.

Or: "How old do I look?" Highly dangerous. 40 inside, 50 out?

Or: "Ooooh, that's my secret." Even from 20-somethings.

Now here's the astonishing bit, when I've eventually done my nasty interrogator bit and persuaded all you age-phobic craiters to reveal your secret, guess what you always, always do?

ADD on a year, eg "I'll be 35 in April." Or: "Nearly 43". Or: "My big 5-0's coming up."

However, thanks a million for the pleasure of meeting you all.

You all deserve that Golden Rose!

Do you know what... was thinking about this yesterday because quite a few folk I know and others who I know got a flower this time and basically, what a good idea! Seeing how genuinely happy people are is really nice, it seems to really make their day. I know somebody who got one who has had a very, very tough few months and it was really nice cos she was like "aww it really brightened up my day" when I saw her a few hours after - am betting quite a number of those ladies have untold stories like her. Anyway, nice one to the folk involved as it really seems to make people happy and there isn't much better than that.

In other news....!

Yesterday's article doesn't seem to be on the website but it was really just a review of the week. There were photographs of the finalists too in a special pull out thingy - am sure it said the winner would be announced tomorrow.
