BB FANS

Just thinking back over the last 3 years of BB, we've had plenty of Brits (black and white and a couple of Asian) but no housemates from Eastern Europe, or Africa, or the Orient, or actually....anywhere come to think of it. All have had English/Irish/Scottish accents, it seems nobody from anywhere else in the world has made it.

Anybody know if this is one of the rules for selection??

I reckon it'd be great to have some sexy Latin babe, or a mad Mexican, or an exotic oriental, or funky Jamaican.....

I mean really, what is going on? Do they only pick contestants who fit a certain mold, or do you think people from elsewhere simply don't apply to be housemates in the first place?

We will never know who did or did not apply but please do not use the old racial card because "someone of a certain race" is not in the house....

We all belong to the same race the HUMAN RACE...

Playing the race card is ridiculous, because as the original post pointed out there has been a number of people from different races in previous BB's.

The reason people from Eastern Europe/Africa/Jamaica don't get selected might have something to do with the fact this is the UK BB. There are BB's all over the world, so surely we want people from the UK, whatever their origins are in our show?

Maybe this is a silly question, but I don't understand these "...use the racist card..." comments.

I was wondering why for example, with so many different backgrounds in the UK, we don't see that reflected in the house. It does seem weird that with so many Italians/Spanish/Sth Americans in the UK that we haven't seen anyone of Latin origin in the house.

I don't think any of us here are racist at all, this thread is actually asking whether perhaps there is some "unspoken" racial ideology of the BB producers.

I simply think that a better "mix" of people would make a more interesting household. It's the differences between people that are usually far more interesting than the similarities. A conversation between a Brazilian and a Scot would be potentially far more unpredictable and educational and fun than between two neighbours from Grimsby!

And PLEEEASE, no "what have you got against Grimsby" responses - that is NOT what this is about!

Maybe the whole idea of it being UK Big Brother is that we have people that live in the UK ONLY on it, we cant suddenly have all sorts of other nationalities in there! It would be INTERNATIONAL BIG BROTHER THEN!!!!!!

We've had mixed races before - no doubt there will be a mix this year too...as long as they live in the UK there is nothing stopping them from being put in the house...as someone said who knows who applied but just cos someones roots are different to Craig, kate or brian doesnt immediately mean they should go into the house - they might have not been picked cos they're boring - just cos someone has a different culture doesnt make them more or less interesting than me or you!!! Look at Sunita - DULL DULL DULL!!!!

Just because London has a HUGE nationality mix, doesn't mean that the rest of the country does
