I have to disagree with some people here and say that Jon is not that clever, some of the things he has come up with is pretty stupid and he is trying to act to the viewers that he has got brains. Ok he has done physics, physics is a hard degree to do (but mathematics is harder), but if he was to have conversation with someone who got a degree in ancient Caanan History or was a Plastic Surgeon whom were talking about there speciality then he could be at a loss for words.
Ok he has studied physics and I do agree it is probably one of the best degrees for problem solving. However certain things he has come up with does not make him sound very clever to other scientists. The reason he sounds clever to viewers is because not everyone has study science and in a way he is putting himself above the viewer and those in the house by saying well look at me, look at what I can do, he goes in to the diary room not to be funny but to let them know that he believes he is clever than big brother. The public may admire the fact that this guy knows a lot of stuff and therefore may vote him to win.
The other reason I think he goes on about starwars and startrek a lot is because those who follow those type of programmes tend to also be on the net a lot, (except us!) as he has been on the net himself quite a lot and has probably figured that if you win over those who use the net a lot by becoming something that they can relate to then you could have a huge number of voters on your side whom can influence other web users to vote for Jon.
I think Jon is the only one at the moment who is playing the game. But he hasn't fooled me.
Actually, I could have been fooled but I spoke to some people whom I know to be very clever physicists and some of the stuff he has come up with is not very clever.
Hay before all the Jon fans get me. I don't hate the guy he is playing a game to win.
