''KAMPALA - Former Ugandan housemate in Big Brother Africa reality show, Mr Gaetano Juuko Kagwa and seven other former housemates are in Accra, Ghana, shooting a video film by Ghanaian housemate Sammi.

Sammi branded himself a musician in the Big Brother Africa reality TV in South Africa and won a Sure codeless microphone from the show producers.

Gaetano left aboard a Kenya Airways flight at 5:30 am on Friday morning. He joined Zambian Cherise Makubale, the winner of the $100,000 Big Brother prize final prize, South African Ms Abby Plaajtes, Mr Alex Holi, Ms Tapuwa Adebayo and Mr Martin Van Breda, the contingent manager. Angola’s Bruna is reportedly absent from the film shoot.

The former housemates are to stage a music show on an Aids fete due in Kampala on December 1. The fete will be held under the auspices of Unaids and the Uganda AIDS Commission.

On his return from Ghana, Gaetano will embark on a countrywide tour to get acquainted with the living conditions of the majority of rural people living with HIV/Aids.

“This trip is very vital if he (Gaetano) is to know exactly how hard Aids has hit this country. The trip is more like feeling the pulse from where it beats hardest,” said Mr Peter Mubanda of ADS for Africa, the organisers of the World Aids day festivities.''

''PARLIAMENT – Lawamkers yesterday passed a hasty motion condemning Gaetano as the role model on World Aids Day. The vote was unanimous.

Mr Gaetano Jjuuko Kaggwa is the former Ugandan housemate in the Big Brother Africa house – a reality TV show that hooked millions across Africa to their screens from May to September.

Gae, as he is popularly known, became a hit with fans largely because of his assumed romance with South African housemate Abby Plaatjes....... MPs outdid each other in condemning the former Makerere University law student......... There followed a charged debate as lawmakers poured scorn on Gaetano. The MPs said he could not be a role model in the fight against HIV/Aids.

“These people who jumped on each other after such a short time and started playing sex live on a screen! What is Gaetano going to tell young people? To do as I say, not as I do?” Kiyingi (an MP) asked .......

The MPs said it would undermine Uganda’s image abroad as a country that had successfully struggled against HIV/Aids.

The MPs said Gaetano “openly played sex” and would supposedly encourage young people to do the same. MP Emmanuel Dombo (Bunyole) claimed that Gaetano cheated his girlfriend in Uganda while in the BBA house.

“During the presidential campaign, President Museveni promoted abstinence, condom use and faithfulness. Gaetano cheated his girlfriend, did not abstain and nobody saw him use a condom,” Dombo said.

He said it was wrong to adopt Gaetano as a role model for the youth.....'

God! the aids epidemic in Africa is dreadful. It was commendeble of Gaetano to offer his service to help in the education of the people in the fight against aids.
I read an artical in the Observor on Sunday about the women who have to become prostitutes to feed their children, but they end up invected with aids. Apparantly, some women are inmune to the virus because they have extra white blood cells. ( lucky women) The situation is desperate tho. I can also understand the MP's when they objected to Gaetano becoming one of the faces in the fight against aids when they said.
