BIG Brother's Igor Vurmeski has been outed as a thief, a debtor and a love rat.

The loudmouth tiler, who has upset fellow TV housemates with his sexist remarks, has kept his dark past secret.

Even the Big Brother producers were unaware of the 27-year-old's criminal convictions, a $14,000 debt and a bitter split with his long-time girlfriend

It is clearly a very different application/audition process to our then. Or else a different legal system.

I can only imagine that either they don't do Police checks or their system is worst than ours for passing on details from different forces.

The OZ DVD Big Brother Unseen/Uncut/Unreel has a section on the audition process but like others it doesn't go behind the scenes to show what really goes into finding the contestants and putting the show together. But from what I read about Igor I don't think he would have slipped through the net in the UK.

Actually just noticed a chapter on the DVD entitled 'The Big Brother Machine' which it says is an exclusive look into how the show comes together and the unique world of Big Brother. It couldn't have been that good as I've watch the disc and I didn't remember it.

It would be interesting to see a documentry that follows the production team from the announcement of a new series through to the start and then some of what goes on. I know the making of UK BB3 shows the shopping being done is Tescos but I'd like to see alot more.

Most countries seem to give you better value for money with the DVDs ,the Americans had a large boxset for BB3 and I think a 2 disc set for BB4. Grande Fratello 4 comes on two DVDs which are still cheaper than buying a single UK one. The OZ disc is packed with different footage.
The German BB4 disc is another good one (once to translate the menus).
I'll have to defer on the Mexican All Stars disc ountil it arrives.

But getting back on topic the Americans have had problems with contestants going off the rails. I think it was in one of the early series that a male contestant held a knife to the throat of a female contestant. And in their BB4 they had a contestant that became unstable and started throwing furnature around who was persuaded to leave before he was removed. But other than the knife insident I don't recall any really dodgy contestants getting through. Sure there has been some that have thrown and broken things esp in the Italian series with some very heated arguements but I don't know anybody actually threw any punches though I've seen some getting pushed about by angry people.

I would hope that the production teams would listen to the Psychologists if they thought that the inclusion of a person wouldn't be in their interests or that of the other contestants and that before they reached that stage anybody with a history would have been ruled out.

I wonder do they check medical records for any mental problems ?
