Sunday’s Big brother Live Eviction Show was full of suspense as usual, as Housemates awaited the audience’s verdict from Big Brother.
Mostly affected were Gideon and Francisca, the two housemates who were nominated for eviction last Monday.
The hairs at the back of Gideon and Francisca’s neck were on edge as well as that of the live audience that attended the eviction show.
Both nominees tried to mask their apprehension but when the announcement was made, Gideon was evicted, having got more votes from the audience than Francisca.
In leaving, Gideon became the sixth Big Brother Nigeria Housemate to be evicted, 50 days into the reality show. And his exit has completed a very dangerous trend of evicting couples being from the House, which started with Chinedu and Joan.
Olisa and the True Love and Media24 columnists said at the show: “It looks like Africa is targeting the couples.” This is how it looks: Chinedu, then Joan, then Maureen, and now Gideon.
As Gideon bids the House and his fellow Housemates goodbye–the memory of his macho body, with drool-worthy six-pack, his version of the Galala dance and his forthright honesty will linger in the House, and in our memories.
His best friends in the House, Ebuka and Katung, will surely miss him most, though surely they'll find strength knowing they played their part as true friends, giving him moral support just two hours before their eviction.
With Gideon's eviction, it seems the 'mighties are falling'- that is, those Housemates who seem to be strongest in the viewers mind.
From Chinedu, a formidable personality, to Joan, who was seen as one of the movers and shakers of the House, to Maureen, once touted as the mother of the House. With this scenario, it means not one of the Housemates can say they are ‘eviction-proof’.

CONSIDERING the many burning and controversial issues that have kept the Nigerian polity in state of constant animation, it was surprising last week to find bus-stop parliamentarians debating a subject matter which ordinarily would not have attracted their attention in the past. But it was a different ball game when they gathered that Saturday at the Ogba Bus-stop for their usual, daily jaw-jaw.

The issue that surprisingly came up for discussion was the on-going Big Brother Nigeria reality show which some Nigerians have been following passionately via some television stations and newspapers. The discussion was sparked off by a parliamentarian who confidently declared that one of the house mates, Ebuka, would certainly be the last man standing by the time the eviction intrigues in the house would have played themselves out. According to the fellow who gave his name as Chima Nnorom: “Ebuka has got what it takes to win because he is confident and has a certain charisma which the other house mates cannot resist. And that is also why he has been nominated for eviction just only once, while the others who are still left with him in the house have been voted for eviction many times”.

Ebuka, described by many viewers as the most handsome of the lot in the Big Brother Nigeria House, was unexpectedly booted out of the house on Sunday night.

Ebuka, or Bubu, was seen as a forntrunner to win the grand prize of US$100 000.
He becomes the seventh evictee of the house.

Now seven housemates remain, three male and four females.
Ebuka, the once golden prince, who could do no wrong, suffered a massive popularity dive in Lagos and beyond in only a matter of days.Joseph, once remarked that Ebuka had pitched his tent – that he expected to win – but as we all know, the BBN terrain changes constantly. The topography is unstable, and there is no use pitching your tent in quicksand, which Ebuka learned the hard way. He had Helen and Francisca ‘hanging on the telephone’, waiting for him to commit to either one of them. Now that he has gone, the competition for him is over. But the real competition for the $10 000 has gone into full throttle.Ebuka’s departure hit the housemates hard. While he seemed upbeat about leaving, Francisca (the girl who openly expresed his love for him) wept bitterly as he walked towards the door. Helen, who also was leaning towards Ebuka, gave him a perfunctory peck on the cheek. And, from the horse’s mouth, Ebuka stated that it was her [or rather, Helen’s body!] that turned his head…Frank told Francisca in the garden to remember what he had told her about growing up. “He’s [Ebuka] not going to be there when you wake up.” Francisca sniffled and promised to try remain resolute. Her main flame had gone and the girl seemed vulnerable. Helen dealt with her loss by speaking to herself, repeating the phrase “It’s crazy” over and over again.Katung also seemed to be shaken. He slumped dejectedly in his chair. Ify came to comfort him, and he cried on her shoulder. Ify teased him, jokingly saying “Now I have seen you cry…” She also told Katung that “…now that Ebuka is gone, I am the one you can lean on.”
