Mobile operator Vodafone Netherlands’ customers are to be able watch the actions of the inhabitants of the Big Brother residence on their Vodafone live UMTS handset, three days before the first episode can be watched on TV coming Sunday. Vodafone live UMTS customers can watch what happens in the Big Brother house anytime they wish via a live feed from fixed cameras that are placed at places in the house. It is the first time that mobile customers are able to watch the TV programme Big Brother via a mobile phone.
Vodafone offers customers daily compilations and highlights of the developments in the house that can be watched on the mobile anytime. In coming weeks Vodafone adds Big Brother sound bites and mobile Big Brother games to its live content via Vodafone live. Customers currently pay only 50 euro cents for watching ten minutes of Big Brother.
With this cooperation Endemol, Talpa and Vodafone take a next step in cross-media offerings of TV formats. Earlier Vodafone was the first operator in the Netherlands to reach an agreement with Talpa to offer their programmes on the mobile phone, right from the start of the new channel. Vodafone customers can choose from some 20 TV programmes and channels via Vodafone live UMTS including the NOS Journal, RTL News and CNN, Eurosport, MTV and 2GOTV.
