Five years ago Dreamworld entered a contract with the Southern Star Group, the production company behind Australia's version of the popular reality TV show that is seen around the world, to have the show filmed on location on land adjacent to the theme park. Today Macquarie Leisure Trust, owners of Dreamworld, announced that a new three year contract to have the show remain at the theme park.
The show, which airs each winter, filling much of Network Ten's prime time slots, is said to be decreasing in viewership with each successive season, however low production costs and the high revenue nature of its viewer interaction means that the show remains very profitable to the network and its producers.
The Big Brother house is now open for Dreamworld guests to tour as it is every year while the show is in its off-season. Entry is included in admission.
