Big Brother auditions announced

Who is going to out-perform the 2012 winner of Big Brother (BB) - remember the one who proposed to his boyfriend live on national television?

Those who think they have the chops to survive weeks in the house with a bunch of strangers are on notice - auditions are about to begin for the 2013 show.

This year the producers want to see how potential housemates perform - asking them to record a video diary entry beginning "Hello Big Brother" and explaining why they would be the best choice for a chance at the prize money.

That means for people who live more than 500km away from an audition centre they have the chance to be flown to the second round of auditions and for others it means the chance to get straight through to a face to face interview without lining up.

BB host Sonia Kruger said in a statement this time they're looking for a more varied range of housemates.

"Whether you are a company CEO or unemployed, a full-time parent or a stockbroker, teacher or tradie, the Big Brother doors are open to all," Kruger said.

"After all, more people have been shot into space than have entered the Big Brother House. It is truly a unique and life-changing challenge."
Those wanting to audition will have to register first online at www.bigbrother.com.au

Big Brother seeks older and wiser

The forces behind Channel Nine's revamped Big Brother series are hoping for some older folk to turn up at this year's nationwide auditions, which kick off in Perth tomorrow.

Big Brother executive producer Alex Mavroidakis told AAA they were calling out for housemates over 30 who weren't necessarily out to claim their 15 minutes of fame - and that includes anyone from a doting grandmother to a corporate professional in their 50s.

"We're actively out there (seeking) people with a real job who may have never thought of themselves as someone who wants to go on a reality show, they're the sort of people we're particularly interested in this year," Mavroidakis explained.

"Our key thing at the moment is finding a broader range of housemates. We had a terrifically successful season last year, and great housemates and I wouldn't have changed any of them, but at the end of the day, the youngest was 18, and the oldest was 31. And that was just a symptom of who turned up at the auditions."

"So if no older people turn up at the auditions, there's not going to be any older people in the house."

MINOGUE SISTERS TEAM UP FOR AUSTRALIAN X FACTOR

KYLIE MINOGUE and her sister Dannii are teaming up on TV talent show THE X FACTOR in their native Australia.

Kylie has agreed to mentor Dannii's contestants on the show, which will mark the first time the Minogues have worked together on Australian TV since they shot a Young Talent Time concert in 1987.

The move is a big boost for Dannii, who is making her debut as a judge on the Australian X Factor after finding success on the British version of the show.

She says, "This is a change. Kylie is a huge X Factor fan."
Her sister adds, "Dannii is so good at this, I'm just along for the ride. It's really fun to do something together, so it was a done deal when she asked me.

"This kind of show is one of Dannii's natural habitats, but I do feel at home on a TV set and being with my sister... We're both comfortable in this environment."
