Having finally tired of E4 being so far behind the real action, like the HG's being in the cage as I tuned in at midnight on Wed/Thu, I've taken the plunge and signed up for a live feed. I'd already read up on who left the cage and which order, so knew the result. Didn't see the point of staying with E4 after that.
Got to say it is a sight better than what we had for the UK BB4 - with this feed you can have a 'quad cam' view - 4 individual shots of the action, then a choice of picking up on one of your choice. I've set it to the highest cable connection I can, they don't seem to cater for a 1Mb cable connection, and trying a 1.5/T1 option didn't work for me.
At this time all the HG's are in one area so the sound is OK, not sure what will happen if they split up and the 4 cams are in different areas - could get confusing I guess. Cam 3 seems to be zooming in and out of inanimate objects all the time, like a kife on the kitchen worktop or the cage the tortoises are in.
As with our BB, it can get boring at times. Most HG's are sat playing cards. Jack's been doing something in the kitchen area, oh - feeding tortoises (Cam 4 just helpfully showed them eating some greens...).
Their camera technique is also different, Jun went to another room and the camera followed her, complete with blackouts as they went from mirror to mirror. Quite funny watching Jun in the bedroom, two camera shots at once - from opposite ends of the room! Almost a mirror image effect, apart from the difference in the beds. Then a long shot plus a close-up of Robert in the bathroom, picking his nose! He wiped on a tissue BTW. He's a bit of a 'Tim'in doing his hair too.
Some times they only give 2 feeds, in 2 windows at a time, if all the HG's are together. I had a few teething problems getting a picture too. So, I've upgraded to the 'Real One Player Plus' and that seems to have fixed it.
Hey, let's see what happens. I kind of miss the choice of feeds we had on E4, being stuck with the main screen during the USA coverage. This quad cam thing looks OK. Oh, it's $9.99 (£6.24) a month to subscribe, but they give 7 days free if you sign up,, you can cancel within that time and not be charged. No, I'm not on commission.
