Happy Mondays star Bez claims the Home Secretary is backing his fight to overturn his assault conviction.The hellraiser was found guilty last year of an attack on his former girlfriend Monica Ward.
The 2005 Celebrity Big Brother winner, 46, was given community service but refused to do it and was sent to prison for a month.
Bez has protested his innocence ever since.
And he now says Tory minister Theresa May has given him hope that he will get the conviction quashed.
He said: “I’ve got a letter from the Home Secretary. She is backing my fight.
“I’m innocent, man. I’m going all the way to the highest court in the land to get this overturned.”
