Big Brother has changed its format to appeal to a new audience, but I haven't got a clue what that audience is supposed to be
Yeah, that sums it up quite well along with:

"Now the forums are quiet, and the media attention is pretty much zero, because everyone's watching the same highlights. Why run any stories when everyone already knows?" [and] "It seems to me that viewers are willing themselves to love the show. They want to enjoy it, but it's made difficult by the current, overly flashy format and the lack of streaming. "
Personally speaking, I haven't been overly bothered with the highlight shows for years, I just read the spoilers and decided what looked interesting to watch based on that. For me the fun of BB was the interaction with others about what was going on in there or watching live as a situation was brewing or someone was talking about walking out etc.
The most exciting BB moments haven't been found in the middle of a highlights show, they've been when Craig found Nick's notes, the aftermath of Emma & Michelle re-entering, the Jennifer group losing the plot over a painting and so on. All of which got people talking because they could see it happening! If I woke up tomorrow and saw a facebook update saying 'Kerry leaves after huge row with Tara' I'd just think 'oh? Well, whatever' as there's no way of really knowing what went on.
As said before, what's there to really talk about?
