| Post subject: | CELEB?? Big Brother? |
I tuned in last year to watch Celeb Big Brother and found it very good and had no problems with the majority of people in there. This year however, we have a total of 3 actual celebrities in the whole house those being, Bez, Caprice and Bridgette Neilsen (sp?) and how the others can class themselves as celebrities is beyond me. John is a complete and utter pillock who commentates on horse racing, wow! Lisa, who the bloody hell is she?? what the hell has she ever done?? I watched her video thing as Davina was introducing her and she was so arrogant it was unreal and yet she is a nobody!! Germaine Greer, fair enough, I know what she used to do etc but a celebrity? My arse!! Jeremy, more famous for shagging Rachel Stevens (fair play to him for that mind!) than being an actor on possibly the worst show on BBC1 other than Doctors! Lastly and this is the one that made me laugh the most, Kenzie! Who in the name of christ is this tosser!? How can a member of some chav boyband who haven't released more than about 4 songs be a celebrity. Why don't we go for it on the next one and get someone more famous in like One True Voice!! Unbelievable, it really is. He can take his Argos chains and his Rockport shoes and stick up where the sun don't shine. There said my piece, lets hope a true celeb wins though that narrows it down a lot!! Bez to win!!! |

Yep I would drop bez from that list, and that leaves you with just 2 celebs

The fact that each of the people in the house have their own fan base gives them celeb status. |

I'm a fan of chocolate, as are many like me, many more know about and love and adore chocolate than know or recognise the people in the house does that mean chocolate is now a celeb, or vodka, big fan of this,

Hot chocolate is the name of a group you most probable have never heard of but I'm a fan of theirs. Chocolate for eating is endeed loved by a lot more people then know any of the celebs in the house but no matter who much we love it, it will never gain celeb status. |

Not even if its nearly a celebrity as in Celebrations, and i quite like Hot Chocolate both in the drinking and singing forms |

Not even if it is a Chocolate called Celebrations. That doesn't mean you cant treat your Chocolate/vodka as celebrities if you are in that frame of mind.

After too much vodka I think I'm a celebrity, so I will be in Celebrity company, especially if I eat celebrations at the same time |

Morrissey you make great points and I completely agree (apart from the Germaine part - she ROCKS!). "Celebrity" has become a weird thing in this day and age though, and I'm sure no one person would hold ALL the housemates up as celebrities. However, if as Madeline says, having a fan base is all it takes to make you a celebrity then maybe that is qualification enough. One question - will they qualify as celebrities AFTER the show? |

Wouldn't it be good to get some "real" celebrities in there? Like ... oooh, just off the top of my head ... Bono, Ewan McGregor, Brad Pitt ... hehe .. now that'd make interesting shower room viewing! Sorry - went off into my own little fantasy there! Seriously though - how cool would it be if they got people like Bono, Jennifer Aniston, Ant & Dec, Michael Parkinson, Madonna ... people who really are at the top of what they do and don't need to do it to revive a flagging career?! (though, personally, I'd still go with the top 3 - and I'm sure I could think of more top totty to add! )

The title 'People you've probably seen once or twice before on T.V. Big Brother' doesn't have quite the same ring to it as 'Celebrity Big Brother', though. |

I thought a celebrity was a household name or a face that most people would at the very least recognise and had an idea what that person dose. If most people can not 1.Put a name to someones face 2.Know what that person is famous for 3.Still hasnt a clue even after being told the persons name then that someone aint a celebrity. By the same token you arent a celeb if your famous only for your association with a celeb (Rebecca Loo's (no typo that is what I call her) , Diving Brown (no typo that is what I call her), etc etc) Lord knows what we will get next time............. The granny lady of the night, Wayne Rooney paid for a quicky? Someone who once dated one of the contestants who failed to get into Girls Aloud? Maxine Carr? Better still why dont C4 do a Royal Big Brother (It's day 35 in the Big Brother castle), just think how the Royals would benefit from showing their human side, instead of voting them out who could vote for beheadings. |

n 1: a widely known person; In the teenager garage music world Kenzie would be widely knowm. In the academic world Germaine Greer would be widely known. In the glamour modelling world Caprice would be widely known. In the ch4 racing world John would be widely known. In TV the soapland world Jeremy would be widely known. On the Bmovie world BN would be widely known. In the dance music world Bez would be widely known. In the DJ/radio world Lisa would be widely known. They all qualify in their own world therefore they will be classed as a celebrity by their own fan base. |
