The perils of political WAGdom WHEN struggling for the identity of a Celebrity Big Brother female contestant, two barrel-scraping categories are always worth a punt: former girl band member or WAG. And so it is, that the new Channel 5 Celebrity Big Brother has brought to wider public attention a WAG of sorts. Sally Bercow, a 40-year-old mother-of-three, has a past career in advertising and drinking so much wine she used to end up on the wrong tube back home. Most significantly, however, she is the wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons. There has been much media chattering about whether Bercow’s Big Brother role belittles the standing of her Tory husband, John Bercow. Commentators have questioned whether it’s right for her to take the CBB fee for fame found off the back of his political prominence, and she herself has confessed that John is “not exactly chuffed” about her appearance on the show. But why not let this rather entertaining loudmouth have a blast? The John and Sally saga, as it has unfolded via her tweets and interviews, has offered some hilarious verbal slapstick. And surely there’s something to be said for women who refuse to be muzzled. As MP Louise Mensch commented last week: “Sally Bercow is her own woman and it’s about time people stopped seeing wives as adjuncts of their husbands.” Even John Bercow has made clear that Sally is not his “chattel”. Sally has removed the "mystique" of the Speaker of the house of commons, surely that is a good thing. She has in going into the BB house taken away the snobby/ establishment cloak that has ruled this land for too long. For that alone she deserves a break.

BILLIONAIRE tycoon Mohamed Al Fayed vowed to sex up Celebrity Big Brother with Viagra when he entered the house as a special guest yesterday. The former Harrods boss, 82, who went in to over-see a task, promised to deliver the sex drug if the Celebrity Big Brother housemates needed it. And during his visit he told house babes Amy Childs, 21, and Tara Reid, 35, they would be welcome to spend a night with him if they were evicted. “They’re all so young I doubt they’ll need Viagra. But if they look like they’re in danger of running out of steam I’ll get a delivery of some from Harrods. “I want to see nothing but smiley faces this series. And if any of the young ladies are dissatisfied they can always come to see me.” This |

Harrods do Viagra? I doubt it.... I think that was simply a none too subtle way of mentioning his favourite shop. Plus he really needs to read up on erectile dysfunction. I doubt the girls would benefit. |

Well in fact the voting public gave her a decisive NO when they didn’t elect her to even the city council in Westminster. Anyway I’ve said this before but speaker Berkpw was only elected as he was the most labour ish conservative in the house, labour broke the unofficial protocol in electing 2 labour speakers in a row and knew they wouldn’t win the next election so chucked in Berkow as a stone around any new governments neck. As for Sally as a HM, not seen enough yet to judge. but we must keep her in as the longer she is in there the more pain she inflicts on her hubby.

Kerry Katona latest phone-hacking victim Kerry Katona is the latest celebrity to claim she was a phone-hacking victim, telling her Celebrity Big Brother housemates she felt "violated". The reality TV stalwart told fellow contestants that the police had informed her she was a target of the News of the World. Ms Katona left girl band Atomic Kitten in 2001 and embarked on a television career on light entertainment shows. However it has been the regular and often shocking stories about her turbulent personal life which have cemented her fame. She said: "The News of the World made me more famous than being in Atomic Kitten. I was a bit of a f**k-up anyway, I can hold my hands up for that, but I felt violated. "They literally destroyed the little bit of my career that I had going. The amount of stuff that they had [on me] was unbelievable." Politics.co |
