Olympian Judo star Ashley McKenzie is supporting our new campaign Fight For Every Heartbeat and calling for the public to join the fight. Bad-boy-turned-good Ashley has fought to overcome a life-threatening heart condition to make it to the Olympics. At just five weeks old Ashley stopped breathing. Doctors discovered he had a hole in his heart, which prevented his body getting enough oxygen. When he was still a toddler Ashley had to undergo a gruelling eight hour operation while surgeons battled to repair his heart. BHF.org |
