TASK UPDATE: DEMOCRACY

A large, round hub is set up in the Living Area containing a wireless voting keypad for each Housemate. Big Brother announces that over the next two days, Housemates will use these keypads to run their own Democracy and will control all aspects of life in the house through group votes. These votes are completely anonymous, and Housemates will be strictly told that they are not allowed to discuss with each other how they have voted. Sporadically, a siren will sound throughout the house giving the Housemates one minute to take their place at the voting pads. They are told that in order to pass this week’s shopping task they must vote on any dilemma presented to them, and abide by the outcome of their majority vote.

The votes which Housemates are making will include dilemmas which will affect their time living in the house; they must select which Housemate has the right attributes to complete the tasks. However, only Jim’s voting pad is actually working, and he will become the Decider, secretly controlling the outcome of the vote throughout the task. Jim is forbidden to share his secret role with any of his fellow Housemates at any point, and his role must remain concealed. At the end of the task, it will be revealed that one Housemate was secretly controlling all the votes and in one final vote, everyone must guess who this was. If Jim is discovered, he will fail the shopping task for the group. Remain hidden, and he’ll pass.

DAY 1 (MONDAY) Housemates will wake up to discover the large voting hub featuring a seat and voting keypad for each of them in the Living Area. The decisions on Day 1 will be:
Would Housemates prefer to live on bland grey slop or hot spicy curry? As all food will be removed from the house prior to the task starting, Housemates will live only on tins of either slop or curry (depending on the vote result) which will be delivered to them every mealtime.
Who is the Most Boring Housemate? The most boring Housemate, as decided by the democracy, will be getting a taste of their own medicine. A painter will enter the house and then tip a bucket of paint over the chosen Housemate. They must then stand still and watch the paint dry to understand what they have been putting the viewers through. They are not allowed to move or communicate with any of their fellow Housemates until the paint is dry.
Which Housemate deserves a reminder from home? The chosen Housemate will be given a reminder from home in the Diary Room.
Would Housemates rather give up cigarettes or beauty products? All the chosen products must be placed in a bucket and will be immediately removed from the house.
Who would Housemates like to nominate? The results of the week’s nominations will have already been revealed to the house, but they will now be given a chance to add one to their number. The nominated Housemate will not really face the public vote – but until the end of the task they will believe that they have been put up by their fellow Housemates.
Who are the two most Annoying Housemates? Two Housemates will be voted as the two most annoying Housemates. They will get a taste of their own medicine, spending the rest of the night in the Most Annoying Room in the World. The Most Annoying Room in the World is located in the Large Task Room and includes the following:
An insanely uncomfortable bed for two, a wall of alarm clocks which go off sporadically, a giant hand that runs nails down a blackboard
Chairs which are impossible to sit on due to being wonky or far too small
Leaky pipes which squirt water
A phone which is plagued by prank calls
A locked lunchbox which is complete with huge bunch of keys and when they opened it reveals content is vacuumed packed Housemates only have useless kids’ scissors to open the packaging.
A giant locked cage full of luxury items including a comfy bed. The key is on the opposite wall on a heavy knotted chain which can be undone (with great difficulty) – only to discover it’s a couple of inches too short and the key still won’t reach the lock.

Today, the Democracy Shopping Task continues – with Housemates still believing they are controlling group decisions together by voting secretly using personal keypads which are set up at a large Voting Station in the Living Area. What the Housemates don’t know is that only Jim’s vote counts. Jim must keep his role as Big Brother’s Decider a secret until the conclusion of the task.

DAY 2 (TUESDAY)

Would Housemates rather stay up or go back to bed?

Who would Housemates like to send directly to jail?

Which Housemate Is The Least Popular With Viewers?

Passing The Task

After the final vote, all the Housemates will be gathered, and it will be revealed that throughout the task only ONE voting pad had been active and that one Housemate has secretly been making all the decisions. Big Brother will then reveal the final twist and if the housemates pass they will receive a luxury shopping budget. It they fail they will live on basic rations for the next week.

On the first day of the Democracy Shopping Task, Housemates were lead to believe that they are now voting for the outcome of various dilemmas as a Democracy. However, Jim was secretly informed that he is Big Brother’s Decider. His votes, and his votes alone, decide the result of every dilemma the Housemates face.

For each of the hits on Day 1, the results were as follows:

Would Housemates prefer to live to on bland grey slop or hot spicy curry?

Jim chose to live on Bland Grey Slop. All other Housemates had voted to live on Hot Spicy Curry.

Who is the Most Boring Housemate?

Jim voted for Linda. The majority of other Housemates had voted for Liz.

Would Housemates rather give up cigarettes or beauty products?

Jim decided Housemates should give up all beauty products. Had the Democracy’s votes been counted, Housemates would have given up their cigarettes instead.

Who would Housemates like to nominate?

Jim chose to nominate Lee. A large majority of the other Housemates also voted for Lee.

Would Housemates prefer to feast on Pizza and Beer or Thai Takeaway and Wine?

All Housemates (including Jim) voted for Thai Takeaway and Wine.

Who are the two most Annoying Housemates?

Jim chose Lionel and Luisa as the two most annoying Housemates. They were immediately sent to the most Annoying Room in the World, where they will remain for the rest of tonight.

Today, the Democracy Shopping Task reached its conclusion. Jim continued in his attempt to throw all other Housemates off the scent as he was the only Housemate who’s votes counted in every vote.

Would Housemates rather stay up or go back to bed?

In the early hours of this morning, Housemates were asked to vote whether they wanted to stay up or go back to bed. Unsurprisingly, Jim (and all other Housemates) voted to go back to bed.

Who would Housemates like to send directly to jail?

Jim chose to send Luisa to jail. The Democracy would have come to the same decision.

WHO IS THE DECIDER?

In order to pass this week’s shopping task, Jim had to successfully dupe his Housemates so they did not suspect he was the Decider. In one final vote where all voting keypads were turned on, a majority of Housemates guessed that Jim was indeed the Decider. As a result, Jim failed his Secret Mission and Housemates have therefore failed this week’s Shopping Task and will live on basic rations.

Furthermore, due to Luisa’s continuous rule breaks over the last two days, Housemates will have no hot water or electrical appliances until further notice
