Doherty was at the funeral of 18-month-old David McDonagh, who was killed after being run over at a travellers site in Runcorn last week.A man is thought to have punched Doherty – who won Celebrity Big Brother 8 – in the face during a terrifying brawl that forced mourners to seek shelter behind gravestones.
An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News it was "disgusting" to see the fight break out at the funeral.
They said: "It was disgusting, they hadn't even laid the poor baby to rest and they were there fighting by the graveside.
"It was all over an old family feud. Some of them had balaclavas and weapons, it was terrifying.
"People were scared for their lives, I was hiding behind a gravestone with my baby in my arms."
A police helicopter was dispatched to the incident and an investigation has been launched.
Greater Manchester Police wish to speak Mr Doherty "as a witness".
