Would it be fair to say that someone like Spencer, Jade or even (god forbid) Alex would be currently as much of a celebrity as Ann Diamond, Mark Owen, Sue Perkins or Les Dennis?

Depends how far down the list you want to go - could even suggest that the guy who turned on the local Christmas lights (no idea who he was!, probably local radio or something) could be counted in there as well.

George the tortoise from Blue Peter is a bigger celeb than all of them put together and has had more TV exposure.
