ROCK legend Meatloaf is to perform amid the tranquil surroundings of Harewood House, near Leeds, next month, it has been announced.
In a departure from its more usual middle-of-the-road offerings such as Jools Holland and Will Young, the stately home is to play host to the US rocker, best known for his blasting chart-topper Bat Out of Hell.
Meatloaf will stage his show as part of Harewood House's Summer Nights open air concert series on July 3 and the format for the event will remain the same regardless of the performer's style – concert-goers are encouraged to bring lightweight seating and a picnic.
The star denied it was an unusual choice of venue and said he would be playing old songs as well as new ones from his forthcoming Bat Out of Hell III album.
"I don't see it as unusual and I don't care who turns up, as long as someone does," he added.
