Springwatch
BBC, Monday 25 May 8:00pm - 9:00pm Yes, it's that time of year again. Tonight, Springwatch - or, as some of us would be tempted to call a series that runs until mid-June, Summerwatch - returns for its three-week celebration of seasonal treats, nightly from Mondays to Thursdays. Amid the badgers, tits and hedgehogs, though, one furry creature is nowhere to be seen: Bill Oddie has migrated for the year. It won't be the same without him. Oddie's approach to live presenting gave Springwatch a pleasantly ragged edge: let's hope the new line-up of Kate Humble and Chris Packham, with Simon King and Gordon Buchanan out and about, isn't too cool and cosy. Humble and Packham return to Pensthorpe nature reserve in north Norfolk with its battery of revealing mini-cameras. Buchanan's mission is to film badgers in Essex. And King heads to Wales with a very tough challenge: to track down a polecat and a leatherback turtle.
