Little England ITV1, 8pm - 8:30pm

ITV1. Friday - 10:35pm The Little England of the title is the Dordogne in France, bits of which have been colonised by British people looking for a better way of life. And a nice plate of fish and chips, it turns out.
Geoffrey Palmer is the sardonic narrator, reading from a script apparently written in the 1950s, with gems like “In days gone by” and “[The Dordogne] is the land of the majestic castle”. Of course, England is referred to as Blighty.
In the first episode we meet an English couple who run events at a chateau (sorry, that should be “majestic chateau”), a family who moved from Somerset to become farmers and a couple who run a fish and chip wagon for the expats.
About the episodeNew series. Documentary following the lives of some of the 20,000 British people who have moved to Dordogne in south-west France. A couple from Sheffield talk about their mobile fish-and-chip business, wedding planners Nick Deane and Monica Walker organise their biggest event to date, and the Hickses from Somerset discuss moving to France to buy their dream 70-acre farm.
