Ann Widdecombe fronts a carefully titled quiz. It’s built on Widdy saying the word “cleverdick” a lot: the first-round loser is “not a full cleverdick”, the final is “the clash of the cleverdicks” and swift answers earn the epithet “Cleverdick!”, in Ann’s Lady Bracknell tremolo.
The format is a souped-up Going for Gold, where increasingly easy clues yield decreasing points. But it needs to become a punchy half-hour, not a lumpy hour, by losing a contestant and, while Ann decides on her hostess persona, ditching her painful banter. The round two scoring is cock-eyed, too. Cleverdicks is coming up short.
