'A staff jolly'

BBC send 300 staff to Glastonbury - MORE than the World Cup

The Beeb today revealed that 300 employees will be sent to the three-day long festival compared to the 272 sent to the World Cup in Brazil, which lasts for more than a month.

The BBC said they aim to keep staff numbers down wherever possible but had a "clear and accountable role" to show hours of coverage from the iconic Somerset festival.

The corporation's music chief Bob Shennan said: "We're sending the same number of people as last year and, whilst some will inevitably still argue this is too many, I can assure you that every member of staff onsite has a clear and accountable role, working long hours to offer unparalleled coverage for our audiences.

"We have also worked hard over recent years to identify areas where resources can be shared or tasks more easily undertaken off-site."
