The Simpsons is a deserved winner of polls like this but is it a kids show?

I was speaking about Mr Benn with someone just yesterday, that programme was so randomly weird!! I loved it!

I wouldn't class The Simpsons as a kids show... do they not show it on C4 after the water shed? I don't watch it but I thought it was on at like 9?

I don't know if I've ever heard of that.

They made a programme once called 'The Enchanted Tree' or something like that... I'd read the book before and absolutely loved it! with the man made of pans, the wee fairy and moon face! beastly

I loved the magic faraway tree! Notice the subtle correction of your gaff Jezi ;) I read the books but never watched the programme as I thought it would spoil the enjoyment of the imagination I had when reading the books. awwww happy memories :D

Oh we read those at school...think it was the Enchanted Wood and The Folk in The Faraway Tree. Am certain that Enid Blyton was the author though. :D
Used to love her books...think my fave was The Happy House Children :D

thanks HC, I knew it was something like that! I may try and find the copy of that book later, I thought the stories were great!

The programmes weren't half bad though from what I remember, they didn't totally wreck them like they sometimes do.

ohhh HD I thought Enid Blyton was great. Never actually read that many of her books but I did love The Famous Five stories.

One of my favourite authors as a child has to be Dick King Smith though :D

I'm probably biased, being a child of the 70s and 80s, but I think we had the best kids programmes in TV history in those decades. An innocent age, when political correctness and animated violence didn't exist and crude animations provoked the wildest imaginations. When you could escape into a fantasy world and not have a joystick or mobile phone as your best mate. What happened, eh? :-?

I completely agree tastyfish. Looking at all the programmes last night it was wonderful to remember all the innocent and great shows we watched. Its amazing these days how 'uninnocent' (for want of a better word!) childrens tv, music etc is.

bring back Mary, Mungo and Midge I say :D
