wow all these highly successful musicians/songwriters that people write off and say are overrated amaze me....if any of you think you have more talent and ability to sell x millions worth of records, I look forward to hearing material from you...can't be that overrated can they if they appeal to the masses rather than 1 or 2 individuals on a messageboard? ${

I'm sure plenty of people don't share my taste in music and other things but it doesn't mean I'm right and they're wrong.I just don't want to listen to their music thanks.

The argument that "if you can't do it, you shouldn't criticize" Is the most annoying ever :D

That way we couldn't criticize a film because we couldn't produce one, couldn't say a song is crap because we couldn't reach the notes, couldn't criticize a soap because we couldn't put out 2 hours of drama for 52 weeks a year. Couldn't present BB, coz we might not be able to do a live show for an hour. Couldn't criticize a striker unless we can score a goal against Argentina...

So to sum up, all critical faculties must be ignored, unless you are rich and famous :D

Huh? So because I can't play guitar, I have to admire anyone that can??? For the record, I think the most over-rated 'musician' is Robbie Williams. Also Westlife, Boyzone, Steps, S Club et al. Although I think that labelling any of them as musicians is being over generous.

Bands like this illustrate that just because something's popular doesnt make it right ()^
Some of the most talented musicians on the planet are minority artists..there some awesome talent on the folk scene for instance.Just because it's not mainstream doesn't mean theseartists are no good. ${
And we all have different tastes.Mahler was a genius but I just don't get him and don't like his music.
Imo there is absolutely no correlation between record sales and talent :D
