INSIDE ELTON'S WORLD (10.30pm, C4)
THAT grumpy old agony aunt of rock admits: "Maybe I should have just shut up and not said anything."
Elton's talking, of course, about the advice he recently doled out to George Michael ("get out more") and Victoria Beckham ("go to Spain").
He says his comments that Madonna should be shot for lip-synching in her live shows were all in good humour.
Madge didn't see it quite that way though. Not only was he struck off her Christmas card list but she actually returned the cards he tried to send her which, I think you'll agree, is pure class.
The highlight here is Elton's duet with Ray Charles - the last recording made before the soul legend died.
But the interview, shot at Elton's country estate near Windsor, isn't a grilling - it's more of a gentle basting in honey.
David Frost, flashing far too much bare leg in his flamboyant red socks, treats Elton like an elder statesman. (Typically impossible question: "How has America changed from 1970 to today?")
And, frankly, after watching the clips of his Red Piano shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Elton might want to try a bit of lip-synching himself.
It's a spectacular show, apart from the ropey old vocals. And I'm sure Elton and his lawyers will understand I mean that in good humour.
