Me And My Foetus A film on abortions, will be shown on Channel 4 later this month. The film will be broadcast after 11pm and carry a specific warning beforehand.
The TV company said: The shocking scenes of an aborted four-week-old foetus-similar to those banned when pro-life campaingners tried to use them in a campaign three years ago........would promote discussion about abortion.

Media campaigners and religious groups have condemned the programme which is so controversail it had to be passed by the channel's head of programmes Kevin Lygo.

Quite an emotive subject. Will have to see nearer the time if I will watch it. Dont want a huge debate on here about the rights and wrongs though cos everybody will fall out I'm sure.

That'll be interesting.Though thought was an embryo up til about 8 weeks. The heart beat can be detected by ultrasound at about 6 weeks and is one of the most wonderful things to witness. It's a very emotive subject for me and am not sure I'd want to come and talk on forum about my feelings on the subject as I can see could get a bit heated or upsetting.

Surely they mean a four-MONTH foetus? I'm not sure what the legal limit is now (20 weeks?)

Would have thought so.Is not a great deal to see at 4 weeks. The legal limit was 28 weeks in days long since gone, but as babies of that gestation can be viable it was reduced to,I think,24 weeks. The youngest surviving baby was born at 22 weeks, though obviously this is very unusual. The chances of survival at below 26 weeks are very slim and increase with gestation. If a mother goes into premature labour, doctors try to get the pregnancy as close to 32 weeks as possible when the chances or survival are pretty good.

Have read a book about a baby that was aborted (at about 22/23 weeks I think) but the nurse noticed it was breathing and the baby survived. She was adopted and as a teenager went on to give seminars about abortion etc. I also heard another guy speak who was concieved out of rape. He is in his twenties now and thankful that his mum decided not to abort. I have never been faced with the decision and dont think it is one that woman would take lightly. They can often remember for years after. I hope I would never judge any body what ever decision they made, despite my personal beliefs. (just in case I start to sound that way.)

It's not a decision any woman takes lightly to be sure.Thank god have never been faced with that dilemma..in fact my own personal experience is exactly the opposite and I dont think suitable for posting on a general forum....

We've sort of had this discussion before and it didn't get heated at all.

Think that's because everyone was 'pro choice'.

Am thinking personally and it would be more very emotional than heated from my point of view.
