Singer Sophie Ellis Bextor has given birth to a baby boy - eight weeks early.

The 25-year-old underwent a Caesarean section after doctors diagnosed her with the potentially life-threatening condition pre-eclampsia.

Baby Sonny was born at 28 weeks. Mother and baby were "doing well", said a spokesman for the star, although Sonny must remain in hospital for the next few weeks.

I noticed she was pregnant on a tv show.

Would it be unkind to say I hope she concentrates on the baby now and not her musical career

no it wouldn't :D But it would be unkind of me to wonder if the baby has a face like a satelite dish like it's mum

That must be so scary. Hope they're both out of hospital and all better as soon as.

It is isn't it. It also depends on if he's a good size because I know a baby that was born about 8 weeks early but was quite heavy and has turned out fine and dandy :)

   I agree, that is unkind! I would prefer to see her face on TV rather than mine! And she sings better...
