Gil Scott-Heron it's directed by Don Letts, the directer of the Clash profile, Westway to the World.
Gil Scott-Heron became aware of racial inequalities in American society in his home town of Jackson, Tennessee, in the Fifties.
Letts's documentary combines interviews with Scott-Heron's contemparies, modern rappers, poets and journalists with archive footage of the struggle for black equality in America. There are also loads of clips of Scott-Heron live.
